ok ccp since this latest rubicon patch ive been experiencing an annoing popping and crackling sound ive tried turning off the sound and turning it back on with no results of the issue goin away ive tried updating my sound card drivers also no results i even downgraded them back again i dint have this issue in odissey everything was smooth then plz fix this issue it is super annoing getting into combat is just terrible this way right now as im writing this post im deleting the game client and reinstalling it in the hope somthing will get better...ive also suggested to implement an option in the escape menu under sound and chat tab to add the feature of using the odissey sound pack(but got no response)...
im kinda gettin dissapointed cause ive paid for a good working product and no sooner then a month later im getting somthing with terrible sound issues plz fix it gettin into combat is just terryble right now ive tried litterally everything to make it go away.ive browsed the forums n saw som ppl used to have the same issues.
playin eve used to be relaxing roaming around getting into combat now i get stressd out by it..
Make the sound good again or give the option to use previous soundpack im getting out of ideas on how to fix this issue ive spent almost a week since the rubicon update to find a working solution
hopefully somthing will change for the better in mondays patch ...as for all other ppl with sound issues speak up

edit::having a fresh client install didnt help either

Thanks for taking the time to write about this!
We are looking into the matter but haven't been able to replicate the issue so far. We would appreciate if you could perhaps list your complete setup (OS + RAM etc) as well as scenario - i.e. does this happen all the time or only when you reach a certain number of opponents shooting at you?

Have similar problem. It is quite easy to reproduce. Just start a new mission, warp to deadspace, get mission music and then zoom in/zoom out. During zooming the music/sounds get crackled as if they were not able to run up with display (as if scrolling had effect on proccesing sounds).

easy to reproduce?
I tried several time this approach on my personal computer without any of these glitches.
So far I haven't been able to reproduce it - even since the first time it was reported in another thread by apparently the same users.

the popping happens randomly when just flying in space the bad crackling happens when engaging in combat doesnt need to be much enemies that i need to fight like 5 or 6 all shooting at same time i just need to switch off the sound completly when gettin into combat cause its that annoining ive literally tried everything as mentioned above

Yea... sory for this part. I've should added "easy to reproduce on my machine" :P

So far I may only add this seems to be mostly problematic with mission music (or with other music types is it just hard to notice, I saw no problems with WH sounds but i use zoom in/out less often in WH much less frequently).

Every sound poping/cracklining issue I have ever had was solved by pluging the Power USB plug to an external source. (for instance cell phones usualy come with a 120v plug that has a USB slot, Just plug your USB power plug into that).

It is very common on my install.

The sounds are from the popping and crackling of the gate. They seem to stick to the ship. At first I thought you added sound to the Damage Control module when activated, but if you turn off your sound and then turn it back on (checkbox it off then on), it clears the loop.

Something is definitely broken. This is from my onboard sound as well as a plug-in x-fi usb sound device.

Since Rubicon I have this sound problem and it is horrible.

It will often happen on a gate where there is a lot of ships say 40 during a fight. My best guess so far is the new engine sounds of every ship in the area are trying to play all at once. I remember when you could set the number sound of channels in a DOS game, well if you set the number to high for your sound card it would make the same sound that EVE is making now.

Also the new engine sound volume levels are completely wrong, they are way too loud.

I have Windows 7 64bit, with 5.1 Surround sound.

here's some of my system info;

I am experiencing the same issue.

Here are some observations :

It tends to start when there are more than 5 or 6 NPC on grid shooting at me or my alt (minimised lInks), usually when i'm zooming the camera right out on one of them. After it starts it continues until all NPC have left the grid. It's not just a sound distortion for me, soon as the sound goes wierd (and it happens on both clients after it starts on either) my whole game slows and seems to be having trouble keeping up.

Reducing both clients to minimum graphics dod not help the problem, or the slowing effect it has.

This is since rubicon, i was able to run both clients fine before.

Just to reiterate what others have said, to reproduce this I think the best thing would be to run some sort of site with a large amount of players and NPC's on grid - an incursion would probably work well. Zooming out generally fixes the problem for me, but when zoomed in to a medium/close level it gets quite bad.

Edit: I took a video of this happening to me a few hours ago and it really clearly shows the popping and crackling - perhaps it might make it easier for the dev's to understand what we're on about. If anyone from CCP wants the video send me a message or something and let me know how I can link it to you.

Disabling and re-enabling sound in options does the trick, but after couple of seconds to minutes crackling and popping simply continues.... What can I say, really annoying, especially if it worked before Rubicon......
