Hello everyone,

i did not play in over a year, and back then i just installed Eve once and copied all files to another folder to run multiple clients.
Today i followed these steps:
Quote:
Vista/7 Steps
Creating the symlink and Shortcuts to run your other clients Using 3rd party applications

Make sure that EVE Online has been installed. If not install it first.
Open My Computer > C:\Program Files (x86) or if your EVE ONLINE client is installed in a different directory, go there.
Hold the SHIFT key, and right-click the CCP folder, select Open command window here.
Create a new juction by typing "mklink /D EVE2 EVE" in the command window.
If you get an error, you might have to start cmd as Administrator: Press the Windows key, enter cmd in the search box, right-click the cmd.exe icon from the search results, and select "Run as Administrator"
You'll have to manually go to the directory where EVE is installed with cd (eg. cd "Progam Files (x86)" .
Open EVE2 folder. If you see files and folders in it, it means that the junction has been created successfully.
Right-click the eve.exe file in EVE2 and select Pin to startmenu or Pin to taskbar.
Your new shortcut to the 2nd EVE Client is now created and ready to run.
The pinned shortcuts can now be renamed.
NOTE:

You will also need to run each EVE program in windowed mode.
Creating the shortcut as described in the Windows XP instructions above also applies.
The junction EVE2 can be named anything. So for a two account setup, making two junctions, EVE_account1 and EVE_account2, will give you two separate cache folders and one normal cache folder for updating EVE.

but the settings do not get saved propperly.
For example sometimes window positions get deleted or when i run 2 clients at once, the one that is started second pops up on the wrong display, so i always have to set display and resolution again. Any ideas? Is it clear what i want to say? tired and not the best english i think.

I tried that, and yeah it was patchy, as disk space is cheap I just have copies of the game client for each account that I want to run.

yeah allright, will go that way then again. Do i still need command line parameters to force the client to create its own cache? If so, which one was it? I can't remember and i tried to goole but did a bad job as it seems.

Hey folks.

Could you provide a little bit more information on your settings? I had a play about with some clients using links instead of full installs and wasn't able to replicate any settings changing or window setups being lost. The one thing that I did manage to do which sounded like what you were experiencing was to alternate which link each client was using. By doing that I had different window setups and settings, but this would be by design. I also confirmed that windowed clients should always start on the main monitor of your system, but this is not the case for Fixed Window or Fullscreen clients - they correctly start on the monitor/adapter chosen in the ESC menu.

Can you confirm that you always use the same client for a specific account?

Hey Sledgehammer,

seems like the first problem was on my end. Right now the ingame window settings stay how i want them to be per account. I dont know what i changed regarding this, though.

I use fixed window mode and they clients first open on the primary display. When i close them and start them again later, they start on the display i closed the last client on. So, when i run client 1 on display 1 and client 2 on display 2, close client 1, then close client 2 and then start client 1, it will start on display 2.
I use different links per Account, i have links on desktop, named after the characters i use on these accounts. If i run the Link called Elder, i only log in this account, if i run the other one, i only log in the other account.

Paths: Acc1: D:\Games\Eve\bin\exefile.exe
Acc2: D:\Games\EVE2\bin\exefile.exe

It's just a little annoying right now, as my 2 displays run different resolutions, so it's always chanigng 2 options, when launching 2 clients. Not a major pain in the ass or something like that though.

what is this sorcery?
Since yesterday i rebooted my computer, now it worked. Tried multiple times.
There was a windows update yesterday, when i shut the computer down. I don't think anything else changed. Don't know which one it was though.

Very interesting, are you on Win7 or 8? (or Vista/XP but does anyone still use them?)
