Why DUST causes TiDi

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away someone at CCP decided to spend millions on a FTP FPS. They spent many many months/years on this game and the tie in to Eve Online. The addition of DUST 514 to the EVE universe was going to a great way for Null sec blocks to have wars over planets and systems. When CCP was working on DUST 514 they also came out with the Dominion expansion for EVE Online. This expansion reworked Null sec from Moon shoots to massive EHP shoots. Ie. Hubs, Stations and TCUs. Now they have a 1/2 finished FPS that is out of date/dead, and a Space Ship video game that is sorta out of date.

The money that was spent on DUST 514 could have been used to rewrite the core code of Eve Online. Now they have 1 game that makes them money and one thats an "isk sink".

With these new systems coming out by next year or 2015 it makes you wonder why they are expanding the universe instead of fixing the one they have now. Even with these new systems you will still have this TiDi, Blobs and more people that can fit in a clown car with the same old infrastructure to support it. If you think these new systems will be available to anyone, think again. The major blocs will own them 24 hours after launch.

TL;DR
Without fixing the existing hardware and updating the code, they are just adding more space to a server cluster that can barely handle the game today.

I was almost positive that they scratch built a single node to handle all of DUST.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike DUST (it should have been on PC for $10, they'd be rich), but criticism only where it's due.

well, i can't tell you much about the software, but ccp's hardware isn't exactly out of date. in fact, there is no other gaming company that can even compete with this.

... and the entire issue will be moot when DUST get's deep-sixed.

Dust battles were causing TiDi Saturday. Or at least in the Black Rise region.
