grouped guns seems to get more damage?

i divided the total damage by number of guns it seems when weapons are grouped they do more damage then if you fire them 1 by 1. hmmm ?

I'm no expert, but I guess you can solve this with statistics.

So you didn't do any math.. from the great deal of numbers at your disposal in game..

And are just posting because you "feel like its less" ?

? if you mean i enter the damage number into excel everytime the gun is shot , then i ddint do it cuz im lazy

Guns that are grouped and that aren't do the same amount of damage, well if you use all the guns ungrouped, like you would them grouped. Damage is the same. Tested it awhile back, hoping grouped gun would do more DPS, they don't, itus unfair and I cried a little

Are you factoring misses into it? Misses get absorbed into the numbers for the grouped guns. So if you have a non-negligible number of misses, then the damage you calculate by dividing the grouped guns will look lower than the damage of a single hit, but overall the DPS will equal out.

I think you discovered something. In my abaddon when I shoot 1 gun is deals ok damage but when I shoot 1 gun group it does about 8x more damage.

I believe the scrolling combat text lists the average quality of the hits you landed when you fire a group of turrets but I know the system rolls separately for each turret just as it would if they were not grouped. The grouping is to make it so you don't have to use all your F keys for turrets. Therefore, assuming I'm right on the combat text displaying average quality of hits then if one of your turrets lands a wrecking hit but the rest of the group don't it may be listed as "penetrates" or "hits" but the number will look high anyway. So grouped turrets will almost never list a hit as wrecking unless you are firing at a stationary target. Due to the RNG in the calculation though you may still have a single wrecking hit in the group.

Conversely since the animation in game now shows missed shots flying past the target ship you can also land a "hits" quality hit that does very low damage and you can see in game that maybe one turret clearly missed the target. Lasers demonstrate this well as the beam is very obvious when it misses.

If your weapons are not grouped you will get varying spikes in and dips in damage from each turret as the RNG influences each individual shot and leaves it very easy to see. I pretty much guarantee that if you do the math it will come out within chance when accounting for wrecking hits.

Reality has an almost infinite capacity to resist oversimplification.
