What the hell is that noise?

After Rubicon I've started hearing a sound that pretty much sounds like the Chronosphere from C&C: Red Alert. What is making that sound? It really grinds my ears. So far have only noticed it outside of stations, so it's probably a ship module or something that is way too loud and should not be heard blazing through other players speakers?

Often when I jump through a gate and the camera resets on my ship (grrr) I hear that really loudly.

Who put the goat in there?

It's your engines. Turn your camera close to the back of your ship whilst it's moving and turn on your MWD. It gets louder. I kind of like it.

Yep, it's any MWD on the field. Is going to be fixed.

Well, they oughta know what to do with them hogs out there for shure.

If it's the same noise that's been killing my ears then there's a quick little solution I use. In the audio options at the top left there's the toggle Enable Audio, just turn it off and on and the noise should of gone. Atleast until it starts again that is, just rinse and repeat as needed. With any luck it should make life more plesant until the more perminent fix arrives.

It's a total QQ. There are several threads, and people are complaining and demanding it be removed. This is made especially dumb, because the sound effect is actually pretty awesome.

Not sure if my problem is the same as others but what I get is clearly a bug. The sound starts to screach for me and simply never stops, you can jump, dock, change ship anything, it just happily continues to make your ears bleed. The only thing to stop it on the fly is to zoom out but you can't in the hanger. It's horrific.

Well, then if that's really how weak your ears are.... every time you buy a car, from now on, you need to have a looksee under the bonnet to make sure it's not got a turbocharger. You'll get the same results from that.

Har hardy har har.

I wouldn't complain otherwise but it's really damn loud - you can hear anyone in the grid using it. And it is not a pleasant sound, high pitched whining noise is rather irritating to most people. Also if your turbocharger makes that kind of sound you should have it checked, it's about to blow.

Nope. My turbos are working just fine. It's just that the main is really big, loud, and makes lots and lots of boost.
(PS: when turbos fail, they don't "blow".... they shatter. No combustion happens inside the turbine or compressor housings... but, now I'm just nitpicking)
