Ship Icon Green/Blue Blur

I have to post here because when I try to search the forums for my problem I got a pop-up window: 'An error occurred while searching.' It would be nice if something actually worked supporting Eve Online. Anyway to not digress …

After the Rubicon patch all of the small ship icons like in the Ship Inventory, Blueprints, etc. are a square with green blurry lines.

I have a Pentium 4, 2G RAM, GeForce 6200 video card with all the latest drivers.

I know it is an older computer, but prior to the Rubicon patch all of the ship icons showed fine in inventory and the blueprints. I didn't change my computer, so something in the game changed that is making it not display properly now. Any acknowledgement would be appreciated that this is known and being corrected. I can provide screenshots if needed.

hi i also have this problem blue and green blurs and missing blueprint icons ive just spent a wad getting a new lappy eve worked fine until the patch on the 19th Nov please help Sad

Hey after the expansion on the 19th most of my ship and blueprint icons are just blacked out. I did not have this problem until now and it is very annoying. Also I am shocked this is not a more widespread problem because I have two computers with eve installed each of which were updated at different locations and at different times (on the same day though). each computer has vastly different specs yet I am having the exact same problem with both. While the update did mess up on one and I had to run the repair tool the other went fine.

I'm having this same problem, although my icons are just solid black. The only one's that seem affected are ship icons, all blueprints, and the mobile warp bubbles.

It started out as just the new blueprints for the deployable devices. I attempted to clear the cashe to fix this, and it only made the problem worse and spread to all the above listed items.

At least 4 people in my alliance are having this same problem.

Same here. I've downloaded Rubicon and new launcher without any problems on day 1, launched the game and everything was fine. I log in on day 2 and all of a sudden all ship icons in my hangar are replaced by black boxes. Same with drones and BPs. I thought to myself 'Not such a big problem' until I've run my first post-Rubicon mission. All (and I mean all) items on the overview are replaced by black squares and same goes for targeted rats. That really put me off, I'm an extensive missioner and I have no idea what I'm shooting! I have to keep checking the overview and READ the rats' names to identify primaries whereas before it was almost completely intuitive. Doing missions is now a chore and not fun.

I have already filed a bug report w/ screenshots but I've got a feeling CCP hasn't got a clue what is wrong. Heresay is the problem is the game is trying to generate a model of a particular item when creating an icon - don't personally know why CCP can't just use PNG files for all items and ships instead.

I've cleared my cache about 4 times, both from in-game and the launcher itself, my drivers are up to date and I've run the repair tool twice. No effect Ugh

Any news on this? I see the patch this morning did not correct the issue.

In fact, I just noticed also that the Stargate "icon" in the Selected Item window is a pink blurry box as well. It is kinda of annoying because when I selected a ship from my Ship Hangar, there are the ship names with the ship icon above. Now that there is just a green/blue blurry line box, I just have the ship name and no idea which ship it is. I had to change the view to List View in order to select the right ship. I really liked the small ship icons in my Ship Hangar, had this way for yearrsss … purty please fix.

I may have some info that could be relevant to this. I spoke to some people who have the same problem and some of them (usually those with ultra-fast PCs) say that the icons get drawn properly for a split second, then a black 'curtain' is drawn over them, resulting in black squares.

This could be a problem with transparency, like ships being drawn on a space background that 'moved to the front' and isn't transparent. It would also explain the problem with BPOs being just black squares while their respective items are displayed normally, I believe all BPOs / BPCs use a normal item picture w/ a semi-transparent blue sheet placed on top.

Hope it helps, could be worth having a look at this.

I can confirm this as well. When I open my inventory or ships hanger for the first time each day, the icons briefly flash with their correct graphic, then one by one they get over-laid with the solid black boxes.

All blueprints, ships, drones, mobile warp bubbles, and deployable devices all are effected, but everything else displays fine.

I done a reinstall of DX 11 seemed to have worked for me.

Last update (Rubicon 1.0.2) fixed it for me. I also re-installed the video driver.

The last patch also fixed the problem for me... I had to clear the cashe again, but it did fix all the icons.... thanks much CCP Big smile
