As the title says, I'm trying to find some solid fits for a solo roam (nullsec) PvP Tengu. I would like to keep it under a billion, so no Pithum A-type invul fields for me.

Fits please! Help is most appreciated.

For all of the following fits, use whatever missile is most appropriate for the target. There's no damage type bonus, so just carry everything.

The major caveat is that the Proteus is a better cloaky T3. More DPS, more tank, it does everything better. The Stratios also will do more dps, but I think it's fairly limited on tank.

There are a few basic fits, depending on what your exact needs are. I'll give non-OH numbers with all V, adjust accordingly.

Max tank/gank will be something like this:
[Tengu, Covert Gank]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II

Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Gistum C-Type EM Ward Amplifier
Large Shield Extender II

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile

Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Tengu Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Tengu Defensive - Supplemental Screening
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

395 DPS with CN, 111k EHP.

If you hate ECM with a passion that burns from the depths of your soul and want to make use of the Dissolution Sequencer subsystem to nearly double your sensor strength, try:

[Tengu, Covert Gank Disso]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Damage Control II

Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
Gistum C-Type EM Ward Amplifier
Large Shield Extender II

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Mjolnir Heavy Assault Missile

Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Tengu Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Tengu Defensive - Supplemental Screening
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Electronics - Dissolution Sequencer
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

395 DPS, 103k EHP.

If you need the ability to launch probes, you have to decide whether you want to lose a hefty chunk of tank or a hefty chunk of gank. If you don't mind losing gank, take the first fit and swap in a probe launcher instead of one of the HAMs, for a meager 316 DPS with CN, still with 111k EHP.

If you'd rather lose a bit of tank and keep the gank, go with this:
[Tengu, Covert Gank Prober]
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II
Ballistic Control System II

Federation Navy 10MN Afterburner
Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
Adaptive Invulnerability Field II
EM Ward Field II
Large Shield Extender II

Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Nova Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Nova Heavy Assault Missile
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Nova Heavy Assault Missile
Sisters Expanded Probe Launcher, Sisters Combat Scanner Probe
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Nova Heavy Assault Missile
Heavy Assault Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Nova Heavy Assault Missile

Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II
Medium Core Defense Field Extender II

Tengu Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration
Tengu Defensive - Adaptive Shielding
Tengu Engineering - Augmented Capacitor Reservoir
Tengu Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer
Tengu Propulsion - Fuel Catalyst

For 395dps with CN/70.5k EHP.

Those are the basic four, each comes in at around 600mil. Adjust the fit as desired, possibly adding more bling.

Avoid 100MN cloaky fits like the plague. They sacrifice too much gank and tank, and their engagement envelope isn't much different than a stealth bomber, so you might as well just be flying one of those.

Hope that helps.

Source: I've spent a lot of time in EFT and have killed a couple people flying these.

Oh also you might be able to do fun things with the new RLMLs, but I haven't prototyped anything, and since you lose 3 mids to prop/web/scram you can't easily take advantage of all the extra fitting space the RLMLs give you. At best you might be able to pick up a bit more tank, but probably not much. You *might* be able to do something silly with an XLASB, but you'll need implants or a fitting mod for it, and then you'd be stuck using that brainfart that is modern RLMLs...

464/546 dps with Scourge Rage
395/465 dps with CN Scourge
84.3k EHP tank

The only faction module on there is the SS Scram which I wouldn't skimp on, it gives you a 3pt scram as well as some extra range which is very useful as a cloaky hunting ship. The Propulsion subsystem is up to personal taste, this setup gives you better align time but with warp speed changes the Gravitational Capacitor subsytem is definitely a viable alternative. Also this is not interdiction nullified so if you're going to be in hostile space alone you should consider using that but you lose 1 lowslot so your damage becomes quite pathetic or you lose the DCU and take a big hit to your tank. You could also use an AB as opposed to the MWD for better range control in scram range, but since you mentioned nullsec you should always have an MWD.

Overall the Tengu makes for a decent cloaky hunter, but Proteus is far better for this role.

You could try something different like this -

300 dps, 900 / 1100 tank on one ASB, 1700 / 2300 on both ASB, 1287 m/s. No implants. With LG Crystals tank gets a peak 1500 / 3000 dps. And you can throw on a med neut with PG implant.

Also I realise cargo size is limited in tengu so not many boosters, if I was going to use something like this (id use proteus instead tbh) I would have a cloaky alt blockade runner / scout - they can do 2200ms and I have used them successfully without getting killed as null scouts before.

I'm definitely tracking that the Proteus is a better PvP machine. But, I had to go for the Tengu first since I have to be able to run higher level sleeper sites with my corp. Plus, my gunnery skills are poop.

If I was willing to go up to an 800 mil Tengu, would you recommend springing for the Pith Shield Boosters? Are they really worth the extra money?

No. Non-ancillary shield boosters won't make for a very good fit.

I also suspect you'll find if you run the numbers on that dual LASB fit you'll find that you're better off with a buffer. Also, 300dps is laughable.

Would suggest. 2ASB Tank is really fine on a tengu, 440m³ cargohold take you through 4-5 reloads, essentially adding to your lowish 25k buffer some more 30k for every booster load.
