Why Tranquility and Serenity can never be merged

They'll merge as soon as Chinese players can log on to Tranquility normally, and CCP won't have to lift a finger to make it happen. Isk is worth far more on Tranquility and there would be a mass exodus of gold farmers immediately.

The non-farmers will eventually want to be on the server with more players.

Dozens of people also post threads about how EvE is dead and all evidence to the contrary is mere wishful thinking. Bad ideas/opinions shouldn't be refuted or supported. They should be left to wither so that the good ones can thrive. Merging the servers would be a logistical nightmare, require exorbitant resources and probably be culturally impossible. Besides that, a few dozen out of 500,000 does not constitute a significant amount, making their opinion insignificant.



I never said it wasn't a bad idea. The only way they could merge the servers would be to wipe out sov completely on both. It will never happen. If you would actually read my post, I was telling him that quite a lot of people are still asking for it, and do so every time the serenity server comes up. Explanation does not equate to endorsement.

Please don't let the one true EVE universe ever be touched by what is literally a chinese knockoff.

If china players can one day play on TQ freely, give them the option of a one time transfer of character and all assets to TQ.

They could merge the 2 servers, but have a giant wormhole gate, like EVE gate, which is a portal between alternate dimensions of the same space. This way everyone would be in their current place but in alternate dimensions, but they could fly between the dimensions to battle and take space.

Bot cyno pilot and titan would need to be in a blank grid (no celestials) due to gravitational pulls tearing the rift apart near celestials.

Terrible idea to do, I know, but come on people. Rift generator? That would be amazing if the idea of a merge wasn't so terrible right?

actually that's not that bad an idea really on a conceptual level. The only problem is that as I understand it Serenity is run 1 update behind Tranquillity so if you did that players would be playing with incompatible versions.

CCP have already said we are going to be building new gates.

From the point of view of the chinese government, we are a rabble of selfish, soft, indulgent and disrespectful slobs from a place where disorder is no big deal because there isn't the pressure. Our attitudes are corrosive if not toxic. Confucian ideals get stomped by individualistic style, takes about 15 years.
The great grandparents of Japanese and South Korean people your age barely recognise them as the same nationality.

I think that the previous poster meant that we might incite them to rebel against the censorship and other restrictive aspects of their country because of the high regard in which we hold liberty(however much we have left, that is). But we're coming dangerously close to starting an actual discussion in this stupid thread, so I'm gonna leave it at that. In other words....

I don't know about merging the two servers, but having an Alliance Tournament where both Serenity and Tranquility players can participate would be an entertaining and feasible start.

I pretty much repeated what he said, added a bit of insight into how the Chinese see Westerners.
Your understanding is too dramatic, don't worry about rebellion, worry about the weird toxic cancer of individualism in a place where there's little precedent and no room for that crap.
You refer to 'censorship and other restrictive aspects of their country', but that's true only from your point of view, they see you as a rich house where the kids are allowed to swear at the parents. Also only true from your point of view is your regard for liberty, a phrase that carries no information, since everyone has a high regard for liberty, they just draw the line in different places.
Imagine a community where children under ten regularly see porn and/or people having sex. Any effort to make them change their ways is restrictive and infringes on their liberty.

Just let the Serenity players show up as NPCs on TQ an the TQ players will show up as NPCs on Serenity. No shared local or any way to communicate but with fire.
