Rubicon: Wormhole Audio

Since Rubicon went live myself and my corp mates immediately noticed that the audio for wormholes is extremely quite and the range shortened. In order to hear the background and/or 'hole fire' not only do I have to max my master and world but my main speakers as well. Which in turn makes everything far too loud. Please tell me this is not 'working as intended'....

I agree the sounds are gone makes wormhole living much more dangerous. I sure hope this is a glitch.

It sounds like that are using the same audio files but the volume is turned down to 1.

I have to crank my world and master audio level to hear them at all. However, then my ship noises are way too loud.


It's either a bug, or CCP wants to get rid of sound pickets and replace them with visual pickets? Too bad I can't use a visual picket when I'm scanning for sigs since I need to use the solar system map view Cry

I don't like the idea of adjusting my audio levels after I enter a system and before I leave.

I've noticed this as well, really hope this is a glitch in the audio engine. I like the wormholes noises and would prefer to hear them instead of having my earphones blasted out by MWDs.

I have seen this, or heard rather, as well. Additionally, watching the wormhole, it seems to "flash" even when ships are NOT flying through it. This used to never happen and I certainly hope it is a glitch.

I really liked it when it only flashed when a ship went through it.

I would say not just wormholes, but in general ship noises are too loud and environment are too quiet.

I almost had to rip my headphones off my ears when i engaged my MWD due to its loud noise.

I concur, ship vs world volume is way out of balance. Confirmed to be an issue on both Mac and PC clients.

I agree with this as well. It recenter on the ship and becomes extremely loud.

The WH graphics are by far the worst though. I used to be able to tell when a WH went half and crit or when someone went in or out, but that is ALL messed up now.

I agree if you're 'watching' the hole you can easily mistake a visual hole fire. Clearly whomever designed the graphic changes never spent any time living in a wormhole.

In addition to the sounds of a wormhole fire being too quiet compared to the ship sounds... after a WH hits 50% of its mass, it plays a shrink animation. EVERYTIME anyone inside the WH initiates a warp to the hole, it replays the animation. Thus, if you want to troll scouts watching a hole, one can simply warp to said hole, cancel warp, and repeat over and over to put the hole in a constant animation.

We've got a few people looking into this. Thanks for posting and for explaining the behavior. The more specific the comments, the quicker the fixes hit New Eden.

Or places that aren't New Eden but are connected to it.

please do fix the sound of the wh when someone jumps throu it but do not fix the jiggle effect that happens when someone initiates warp to it on your side of the wh. i think its a great trolling mechanic to totally screw with peoples heads.
