Ok, I've started to see people set up customs offices in High sec with taxes a t 80-90%. Why in Gods name would they do this? This is not Low/Null sec, you WANT people to use your Planets. High Sec PI's profit is not in Planet Resources (P0s), they are too low for that, Dedicated PI players are going to go for P2-P4 Factory worlds. The Smart Owners will set low taxes at around 1-5%, to attract as many people to their systems as possible.
Lets do some simply Math.

Say you own a system with 8 planets. Each Player will have at Minimum 6 Factory worlds. Each of those Factory worlds can produce 1-2mil per Player in Taxes per day at even 1%, or 6-12`mil per Player per day. Say you attract only 10 players to the System. That's 60-120mil per day with no work, PLUS your own PI, PLUS your Corp/Alliance PI.

So to recap, why are people choosing just alliance control, when they can have Alliance control AND make 1.8bil-3.60bil a month in Taxes?

Those people obviously do not understand economics. Or are doing it for fun.

If you want reasonable tax rates, come up to The Forge and look for an RvB-R or an RvB-B owned POCO, we have good rates for neutrals - 5% from us, and a recommendation to train Customs Code Expertise to V to knock the NPC tax down to 5% also, giving you a very favourable 10%

(When compared to the Interbus basic rate on the remaining Interbus Offices).

Maybe it's because there's more money to be made driving up the prices of PI goods. Or maybe it's because **** you. Or maybe it's both. More money for us. **** you. Smile

It could be that high tax POCOs are there to attract wardecs.

I'd go with this one.

EVE is a game about spaceships and there's an enormous amount of work to do on the in-space gameplay before players (or developers) are ready to sacrifice it for a totally new type of gameplay - CCP Rise

Or for the early advantage of catching out the player who isn't concentrating, though as an unsustainable tax rate, it will either come down or they are doing it to drive other players away from the planet so it is all theirs.

But by setting it to zero for my friends and 100% for everyone else I gain:
- Cheap PI for me and my friends
- Forum tears instead of competition from others.
- Better price for the PI we produce.
- Potential wardecs that can be handed over (and in some cases even sold) to dedicated PVP corps.

Sounds like a decent plan.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

And if the location of the RvB customs offices are not to your liking, there are plenty of customs offices run by Goonswarm Federation in cooperation with RvB as part of the RvBee Collective. You'll be able to identify them by looking for our ticker. Regardless of location, all RvBee Collective controlled POCOs have the same low 5% tax rate! Cool

No, there's the thing; by setting LOW taxes, you get
-Cheap PI for you and your Friends.
-Support from the Community
-Much more Isk from Taxes than Market manipulation
-Just as may Wardecs from those trying to take over a profitable system.

Band together with other PI warriors.

Find a few systems with low radius factory-ready planets. Make sure these planets are well off teh beaten path.

Kill a few POCOs. Set 0% taxes.

Use freighters/couriers to handle high volume transport.

Make a killing.

Just because Goons or RVB takes down some of the high-demand planets near Jita doesn't mean you can't have good PI. You only need 6 planets right?

You guys wouldn't happen to have some sort of... program... where savvy corporations can pay up front for standings allowing for a lower tax rate? P

that would actually be a pretty smart idea. Have base Tax set to 5% so taxes are at pre-Rubicon prices, then have a Program where people pay for a PI "license" to the Alliance that lets them have 1--2% taxes. I know I'd buy it.

You obviously haven't had the pleasure of chatting with many High Sec folks. They really do not like to do much in groups, especially organised groups...

Which is useless if it's equally cheap for my competitors.

Hardly, with low tax settings and no market gains it'll take forever just to recover the cost of the PoCo.

Which in most cases is calculated as part of the intended gain.

1: This would be true, if you where the Only people actually the Market. You may be "lowering" the competition, but in that case all you are doing is weeding out the Kittens and leaving the Lions.

2: As in protection, If a I've low taxes on a Planet, you better believe I'm protecting it. I've just as much invested there as you.

3: Again, look at the numbers. even at Low taxes, It only take about 2-3 days to reimburse a Office, after that, it's PURE PROFIT with no work.

4: Again, look above. If one system have low taxes, making more from Taxes than the High tax system, who do you think is going to be a bigger target? More so when there are more willing to defend the System?

I don't get it. If you don't like their tax rate, just kill their POCO and put up your own. Problem solved.

lol, true, my rational is that that still sets it to Pre-rubicion levels (unless I am misunderstanding the Skill). Not many people liked high sec PI because it was harder to make a profit. by making a program like that, you could possibly draw in people that might otherwise stay in Low/Null Sec.
