Are you starting through a shortcut / taskbar pin that is pointing to the wrong executable? Are you starting directly from a versioned folder in appdata?

Try just running the eve.exe from the root of the EVE installation.

i tried that just then to no avail.

checking the debug file in the main EVE folder has on the last 4 lines of the file:

[1119/235953:ERROR:backend_impl.cc(2139)] Corrupt Index file
[1119/235953:ERROR:cache_util_win.cc(48)] Unable to move the cache: 5

Have you tried running the launcher as administrator?
Can you access https://client.eveonline.com/launcherv3/ from a web browser?

I started having the same issue after my second log in on 2 separate accounts. The launcher does not detect a connection despite there clearly being one. And yes I can see the little launcher page you linked when I open it with my browser.

Edit: A solution beyond run in administrator mode would be much appreciated. Mainly because it isn't a solution.

Kaerakh: Well, Administrator mode is required if you have installed into the standard program files folder, since the launcher might want to write into that folder for updating itself and/or the EVE client (and also for the bad practice of storing its cache there). We are aware that this is an inconvencie to some degree, but there is not really much we can do given OS restrictions.

Shadowfox986: That is a horribly outdated launcher version, and since you are stuck in offline mode I am going to assume here that you are not starting the launcher via eve.exe but in some other way. This will have caused a problem since during updating to a new version will try to remove the old version. Please start via eve.exe (or a shortcut to it) and things should work. (-:

I said it wasn't a solution because I had of course tried it before even posting(Making this exchange a particular waste of time). I said it wasn't a solution, because it wasn't one.Roll Which was quite the point of me communicating that it wasn't a solution. Blink
So, I am having the same issue and the launcher is up to date(As I am currently logged into my account in Emperor family academy). The launcher does not generate a log.

EDIT: So as so to clearly restate the issue
I launched the client on account A
did whatever in the client
closed the client
I then proceeded to launch the client on account B
I then alt tab after some time lapse and attempt to reopen the launcher and it not insists that I do not have a connection to the game server.
The launcher now has no interface for entering the repair tool requiring that I manually navigate to the client folder if I wish to do so.

Just for clarification: Did you restart the launcher anywhere in between? Can you maybe provide a screenshot of what exactly the launcher is displaying? Thanks!

I don't recall unfortunately, but I think I did close it in between sessions. I was double checking launcher versions in the mean time and the launcher downloaded and replaced itself with an out of date version. That's rather odd behavior.

I attempted to recreate the event following the steps entailed, but I'm not repeating the result. It's worth noting that I had to finagle with the repair tool a number of times to update my client from the last Odyssey expansion version to Rubicon. As the launcher was not downloading the latest version.

Bottom line is the situation is resolved however.

Edit: someone else is going to have to get a screenshot of that offline window. I think one of my corp mates had the same issue. I'll try to point him to this thread later.

i then ran the Eve Online Launcher and Eve finally ... successtully patched itself and Eve is now running ...

This is also happening to me. The patched version on the launcher I used with no problems earlier now I am getting the message:

OFFLINE MODE
You are seeing this because no connection could be made to the content server or something went wrong while loading the online content.

Restart Launcher

On launcher startup.

I did have a windows update when I turned my computer off earlier, I will restore to before then and see if it works.

Have the same problem.

To clarify:

My launcher says it can't make a connection.

I can reach the website with the launcher,
I can start the game with the exefile

I cannot search the forums for some reasons, not sure if that's connected. ("An error occurred while searching.")

It even worked the first time when I used the launcher it's just now that it's ceased to function. Since the second launch of the launcher since the patch. Hehe.

EDIT:
Remembered something possibly important. Which is that my Antivir popped up saying it had detected something in the launcher directory and moved it to quaranteene.

"In der Datei 'C:\Programme\Neuer Ordner\launcher\appdata\updates\unpack\tmpakyja4\launcher.exe'
wurde ein Virus oder unerwünschtes Programm 'TR/Dropper.Gen7' [trojan] gefunden.
Ausgeführte Aktion: Zugriff verweigern"

Sorry for the German. It says "In the directory there a virus or undesireable Program 'TR/Dropper.Gen7' [trojan] was found, Action: Denying Access."

Maybe the other are using antivir too?

2nd EDIT hm that folder doesn't even exist anymore. Strange.

Thanks for looking into it.

Did you run the repair tool as admin?
I got an error when I started it without admin aswell. It only worked as admin for me.
