Can I perform research on a blueprint while a job is running with that blueprint? Or must I wait till the job is done? Also, I am assuming usually you should at least do minimal research on a blueprint before you start a job to improve material efficiency? If its a n original blueprint?

You cannot perform research while using a blueprint for manufacturing purposes.

The job to improve material efficiency IS the research.......or alternatively production (time) efficiency.

Research can onlty be performed on original blueprints. Invention can only be performed on blueprint copies.

so in general does it make sense to do at least a little bit of research on a blueprint before you start the job?

Before starting what kind of job?

If you mean a research job, well no. If you mean a copying job, maybe, depends what the purpose of the copies are. If you mean a manufacturing job, then probably yes, depends whether the blueprint benefits from the research you're doing. Not all do.

Yes.

Specially ME research as that cuts down on the materials needed for production.

Less materials = less costs to produce an item = more profit on same selling price (or even change a loss into a profit with low margins)

As above,

Except if the bp is only to be used for invention where max run copies is the only attribute that counts.
