Bit of an understatement Egosoft have apologised for the state of it.

It's a matter of taste if you like or not as a game, but the playability issues (low fps, lack of joystick support,, multiple crashes, corrupted save games etc) indicate very poor QA. Probably be good in a few months once properly patched.

Hopefully Eve never gets that buggy

Few mods that are out drastically improve the UI functionality. As far as the buggy release, yea... Its got its share of them, but at least theyre trying.
Bad releases seem to be a common theme these days. Hell when I first played EvE in 2003 it was pretty ******* rough. But it got fixed. These will as well.

I'm sure it'll improve Egosoft seem to be good in supporting their games. I suspect a lot of the dislike came from turning it into a Freelancer type game rather than the usual X3 format

People have more respect for reasonably well written posts and are more likely to not ignore you as if you were a nine year old posting on your daddy's account.

On the plus side, you do use capitalization on occasion.

From what i'm hearing it's so buggy that even though I pre-ordered on steam im not even going to bother trying to play till I know they patched it.

Also the interior ship/station graphics are circa 2002 at best ... so much for all the hype on that one

I've played maybe 30 minutes. I haven't run into the crash problems yet.

The interiors are a bit dated, but I don't mind so much. I didn't buy the game for the station interiors. I bought it so I could fly, fight, trade, and build.

The biggest problems with the new UI is that the menus don't scale up with the resolution. I'm running at 1080p so space is gorgeous but I get a menu panel approximately 1.5 inches wide and 1 inch high.

That aside, the initial campaign bits run you through the controls and the menuing. The interface is definitely better than the older X games, but it is a little less coherent and consistent than I'd like.

I haven't played it enough to judge the flight mechanics yet.

The current problem with the game is that the redesign is focused on radial menus (COUGH EVE COUGH not really though) and some other console-ish bullcrap.

The game is exactly as complicated as it was, the problem is that there's a lot more steps involved to do everything. Perhaps a bit more intuitive than previous X games, but the benefit there was that once you figured out how to do something in X quickly, it could be done pretty much immediately.

Now it takes like five minutes to order your ship to buy goddamn energy cells.

The flight mechanics aren't too bad, not a huge fan of the station nonsense, people should just license EVE's character models, and overall it feels too arcadey (even though it really isn't).

Basically, give it like two months, bunch of bugs will be fixed, and some good mods will start coming out.

No...just no.

-In space X rebirth is quite beautiful, like a canvas painting. Problem is, even on high end rigs you also get the FPS of a canvas painting.
-The UI is terrible, a console abomination for a pc-only game. Seriously, it's god awful.
-The station npc's are pretty ugly, but who gives a ****, its a spaceship game.
-no external camera view, which is a shame because the game is actually quite beautiful.


Much of this (e.g. the UI) is fixable, and there are mods out in the community that do fix some of the bad. There's probly a good game burried under all of those issues, maybe in six months or so we'll get to see it. As a plus, by then it will be on sale.

But in its current form, Eve is just a much better game then x rebirth because it actually works.

I'm told the whole X series is just a really high end dwarf fortress mod.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.
