If EVE were Monopoly or Risk

I wonder if any of the PVE'ers of EVE have ever played games like Risk, Monopoly, Stratego, or even Clue?

How do you play monopoly when you land on boardwalk with 3 hotels? Or what about when i'm moving all my armies onto your France?

On a chess board, there is no 'safe zone'. My pieces are able to travel to any part of the game world and destroy whatever they can. There is no catering to someone who wants to create a royal wedding ceremony on the Chess Board.

Why is it now accepted that eve contains a portion of people who not only refuse to participate in eve, but infact think they're entitled to have the rules modified to protect them from the game's core elements?

Should we change the rules in Risk to include a safe zone to let the fancy pants people hop around and 'enjoy' the game the way they want to play it? Should we change monopoly to include an inside ring just for people who dont want to pay rent on hotel properties? Why should we change eve?

Yes, PvE is also one portion of eve, however it was never intended to be played ONLY as a PvE game. Mining operations to me always meant you'd have combat support also to protect them. You can engage in PvE activities such as mining, but you are in a PvP environment and need to be prepaired to ether run, or fight. That is part of the game. Why are we making the people who do nothing but PvE immune to PvP?

Further, why do people who only PvE even play eve? Is it just to sit in the next biggest ship? You can login to SiSi and buy pretty much any ship for 100 isk. Why bother playing now? I'm curious what makes a player do Angel Extraveganza for the 600th time, if he's not going to PvP with the money he earns?

Edited for accuracy.

I might agree with the sentiment, but way too much unneeded condescension.

Because EVE was not intended to be only a PVP game.

There, I said it: not everyone likes the same things you do. Shock, horror, gasp.

Yes, it was and is.

Except for ship spinning, but I don't know many who only do that.

…aside from every last activity in it being some form of PvP.

You dont need to enjoy the same things as i do. I dont enjoy WOW so i dont play it. I dont sit there demanding that blizzard give me access to kill everyone in it and steal their stuff.

Im not invading your PVE games and demanding that they be made more friendly to PVPers. Why are you in my PVP game demanding it cater to PVE?

If you dont like the core fundamental aspect of eve, you probably shouldn't play it. Just like if you don't like running around the monopoly board until you're broke, don't play it.

Do you play Quake and complain when people are shooting, and all you want to do is explore and collect weapons and build up your arsenal?

Because PvP pussies cried too much for too long, so carebears showed them the main flaw of their base argument. We paying the subscription.

And why are you crying again ? War-dec shield ? Its probably the only "non" change i can get. Winter expansion is totall suicide gank buff. And war-dec shields will be dealt with after the new pay for grief mechanics is invented.

Anyway i heard that CS is PvP game.. Give it a shot. or UT or whatever strike you fancy.

And so if thats all it comes down to... subscription numbers... and if the majority of subscribers want no pvp, thats where the game will go, then fine. I'd love to see a statement from CCP declaring that it is now catering towards PvE side of things as their customers clearly want.

But untill then, CCP is still claiming eve is a PVP fragfest while they make pvp less and less possible with each change. And thats misleading.

Sorry but i 100% think i should be allowed to enter highsec and blow your ship up 500 times over if i feel like it, and have the resources for it. Eve was made to be a sandbox. Im allowed to come kick your sandcastle in. Its your job to set up defenses to prevent that. That is the game.

…not to mention EVE Online.

But you highlighted another interesting aspect of his point: why is it that people who want to grow carrots don't play CS, even though the game clearly contains carrots, and instead pick up Harvest Moon or Farmville or something more along those lines?

Some of us just want to relax and play a GOOD sci-fi game, of which there are almost NONE. But for your information, I didn't join to PvP, and thus far, I've been doing fine. It is people like you, sir, that I dislike, who seem to think that you should be allowed to ruin everyone's day. And what's wrong with playing to get into the next biggest ship? You seem to find this a problem. EVE is, however, a sandbox, not solely a PvP game. If I want to stay in high-sec, that's MY decision, not YOURS. Get over yourself. Go fly a BS or a Hulk into low-sec, and see how long it lasts. That's what you're demanding everyone be forced to do, essentially. Whatever kind of ship they fly, not everyone likes or wants to PvP. Were high-sec to change, the instance above would occur all over, and how long do you think most of those players will stick around? Sure, a few will adapt, but most will just quit, especially if the reason they're flying a BS in high-sec is because they most certainly will LOSE it in LOW-sec.

TL; DR - Demanding that we play your way is not going to change anything. Most of us will probably leave. Get over yourself.

Failfitting ships since 2007.

EvE's combat system is from the dark ages, no one plays this for competitive PvP.

Hyperboles and even more hyperboles. There is no immunity to pvp, period.
And PVE'ing for the sake of PVE'ing is just like PVP'ing for the sake of PVP'ing, only that it caters to different people.
