Rubicon Trailer Pod Pilots and the Jovian Wet Grave

I thought the trailer was neat. Not the best, but it was neat. Watching the sentry drones launch and the Machariels fire their guns was cool.

The pod pilots featured in the trailer didn't give me the sense that they were in a pod, or even hooked up to the ship. It looked like they were sitting in a cockpit with holographic displays around their heads. Like any other futuristic Joe Schmoe.

Here's a chronicle about the first non-Jovian pod pilot in New Eden.

Did anyone else feel that way about the pod pilots?

Side note: I also noticed the female pod pilot in the Rubicon trailer is that same as from the Origins trailer.

Another side note: Do you prefer 'pod pilot' or 'capsuleer'?

And I should mention I understand it would be hard to put a pod pilot in a trailer the way it's shown in that chronicle and still get the same kind of dramatic tension.

[Pod pilot floating in goo]: *think-talks with pod pilot of other ship* blahblahblah This would be like a voice over while I'm floating in goo.

What we see could also be an artificial construct that the capsuler/pod pilot experiences when interfaced with the ship.

Bare in mind the pod in the Jovian Wetgrave was a prototype and the first pod that was hooked up to anyone other than a Jove. Also it was only released (for a short time) to the Caldari.

Since then the capsuleers have advanced and all Empires have gotted their hands on the pod tecnology.

Not to mention, it all it their minds remember, the pod is jacked straight into your neural system.

Edit: Sort of like in the Matrix film when they are plugged into the matrix.

Quoted from Doc Fury: "Concerned citizens: Doc seldom plays EVE on the weekends during spring and summer, so you will always be on your own for a couple days a week. Doc spends that time collecting kittens for the on-going sacrifices, engaging in reckless outdoor activities, and speaking in the 3rd person."

It is all in their heads.

What is "real"? How do you define "real"? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then "real" is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.

Do not try to pilot the ship, that's impossible. Instead only realize the truth. There is no ship or pod.

Only then you will realize its not the ship that flies in the trailer,...its space pixels configured as space submarines in a simulated fluid universe with creative license taken as not to scare off potential customers who may expect flying barbies in actual space.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

What do you think all those tubes on the corpse are for?

The pod is an interface that allows your mind to project a HUD to interact with. Not complicated.

Confirming that ghost sites are not like the trailer. No giant crazy amazing superstructure, just a couple cans in space. HOWEVER, they did get my heart pounding. Being in a warpable anomaly with incoming tackle-rats on a timer, and the prospect of riches and NOT accidently dying to an anti-virus made for a pretty cool experience. Visually however, there was nothing to it.

Which is, I imagine, exactly what it would seem like if someone replaced your senses with those of the ship. You'd still have a sense of yourself, but all that would be around you would be the surroundings of the ship, while the ship itself disappears, which is what we see from the pilots' perspectives in the trailer.

It could also be done with a really fancy flight sim with screens in every direction. So what?
