Cosmic Signatures (Gravimetric Signatures) Probing.

I have a few questions regarding Cosmic Signatures....

1.When I activate the probe scanner, I am usually greeted by around 4 cosmic signatures, sometimes warpable and sometimes not. Do I need to ''probe'' it down to 100% before I can warp to it?

2. If it does appear as warpable, does that mean someone probed it before be or do some of them open up without need of probing?

3. Let's say the signal strenght is so weak I have to probe it down before it becomes warpable, after probing it, does it only open for me or does it open up for everyone else? and If I have to come back, do I need to probe again?

Thanks a lot in advance. :)

1) Yes. There are two types of signatures- Anomalies and Signatures. Anomalies can be warped to right away, while signatures need to be scanned to 100% before you can warp to them.

2) It was an anomaly.

3) Everyone that wants to warp to it must either scan it down or have a bookmark of it. Once you scan it down, if you bookmark it, you can come back and warp to the bookmark without rescanning it. IE scan it down with an exploration ship, bookmark it, and come back in a combat ship.

Your ship has two types of scanners, an on-board scanner and a probe scanner (if you have fitted it). "Cosmic anomalies" emit strong signals that your on-board scanner is able to pinpoint. These will always show as 100% and are warpable as soon as you enter the system. Cosmic anomalies can also be seen as green diamonds in space when the sensor overlay is active.

"Cosmic Signatures" give off weaker signals that must be pinpointed with probes. These are things like wormholes, data and relic sites, gas sites, and DED sites. Once scanned, you can warp yourself or your fleet to them, but another pilot wanting to warp there will have to scan them himself. Cosmic signatures start at 0% and show as red diamonds in space when the sensor overlay is active. If you leave the system you will have to rescan these before warping to them (unless you have saved their location as a bookmark!)

1. Anomalies are warpable immediately. Other types of signatures need to be probed down. You have to probe it to 100% in order to warp to it.

2. If it appears as warpable, it doesn't need to be scanned at all. Other players have no effect on this.

3. Any player can probe down that site. Probing it only makes it warpable to you, but anyone else can probe it down still. If you want to be able to warp back later or share it, then bookmark it. Sites despawn after a while depending on the type.

Thanks a lot for the quick replies guys but I still have one last question :/

According to the EVE uni wiki, the gravimetric signatures count as a cosmic signature right? If thats the case one would have to probe it down 1st but I saw that it was warpable, I am confused now :d

Thanks in advance again : )

Wiki is out of date. Grav sites used to be signatures, they are now anomalies.

Can I share my bookmark with anyone? Or even sell them?

1st = yes. If you hold shift and the drag and drop the bookmark from the peoples and places window to your cargo it creates an item which contains the bookmark. This item can be contracted / traded like any other item.

2nd = technically yes. However people might not trust you with selling something as a bookmark as it could just be a random spot in space. And if they know in which system it is, they can probe it down themself free of charge.

Generally, you would sell Wormholes. Something like a C3 with a high sec static and good bonuses etc etc.

What you COULD do if find lone capital ships and sell their locations. I personally have never done this though.
