It doesn't seem to me that the regional nebulas are correctly positioned in some instances. Placid looks farther away from Gallente hi-sec than Syndicate. Amarrian space appears in Caldari space even though it should be farther away than Minmatar space according to the map. I'm a bit confused by this, I guess. Ugh

Not having checked it in that detail, did you account for difference in size for those regions/hot-spots? Ammar space is rather huge, especially compared to Minnie space. Might be the rationalisation behind what you're experiencing. But again, just theory crafting here.

The nebulas are all just photoshopped representative stuff which is NOT accurate in position and size at all.

Which is a shame.

Aside from that, Sisi skybox looks more like a skybox than the current TQ skybox, e.i. you can see borderlines and other visual defects where one side of the "box" doesn't line up well with another. The nebulas look great but the whole thing looks like a high-res version of homeworld cataclysm.

"Tomahawks?"

"----in' A, right?"

"Trouble is, those things cost like a million and a half each."

"----, you pay me half that and I'll hump in some c4 and blow the ---- out of it my own damn self."

According to the world map, Caldari space occupies a large dip in space. According to the nebulae, Citadel is ABOVE Gallente space, seeing as the Gallente nebula is below Citadel. But this can't be possible, because when I look back at the map, Verge Vendor as a whole seems to occupy a higher area of space than Caldari space.

I think the world map needs to be flipped upside-down.

Or just flip thee monitor :P

But srsly, this fake-positioning (manual photoshopping) of nebulae is very disappointing when you can already script things to render at each solar system. Because the nebulaes don't look right, they don't appear in the right position, they don't look as big as they should be, and they disappear after 2 regions, and you get the SAME thing for the entire bloody region witch is nothing like promised "navigation by nebulae".

Highly disappointed.

The nebula themselves are not Photoshopped. That's a misconception. They were created using Houdini, which is a very expensive and robust way of making them.

But my original point still stands: some of the nebula are out of position.

When I said photoshopped I meant they are manully positioned and sized. I am aware of the nebulas being gascloud renderings.

Right now the positions and sizes seem wrong, the spaces just don't seem to connect at all.

To confirm that nebulas are out of place:

I put the nebulas into a 3D model by eyeballing them in-game: http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/4826/newedennebulas19nov2011.png

And I tried viewing it from Stain: http://img841.imageshack.us/img841/9285/viewfromstain.png

See what I mean? Many of the nebulas are acutally big enough for the whole cluster to see but they mysteriously disappear.

But at the moment many of them are getting very small very quickly as you fly away from it.

The entire thing just doesn't feel right. They just don't fit together like I hoped for.

Perhaps it is the "entire region one skybox" thing. It is giving the illusion of the nebula being a lot bigger than they are when up close.

Also, I also think the nebulas are done upside down, or the world map is drawn upside down.
