re; returning to login-screen.

This has been a personal pet-peeve of mine for quite many years. I have suggested on a few occasions to change this, however this requires some changes to how the server/client communication happens and that is some major work that takes a lot of time and effort to do.

So as much as I wanted (and many more) to make this happen it just did wasn't suitable, but you never know if that will change!

Give it to CCP Masterplan, he will get it sorted. If he could unwind the warp acceleration code he can unwind the character swapping code.

I notice you don't have more than one character on your screen shots in the dev blog - done because people might notice how the unselect characters' corporation logo are rendered so badly?

If you were thinking of rendering characters in full at one point how come corporation logos are currently defeating you?

I miss news feed.

BTW why exactly this expansion is named "Rubicon"? CCP is starting war against big alliances or what?

I don't know if what's on SiSi is the final version, but it's taking ages longer than what's on Tranq to load.

Also, TOO much red! please tone it down or let us choose alternative themes.

I must say yes it looks pretty, but again You lovey people @ ccp keep dissapointing me.

As ccp you lot have been endorsing multiboxing/dualaccounting/ or whatever one would call it.
with the introduction of the first launcher gething into game has only gotten more steps to actualy login another account or just switching a toon in one account. (yes I know by only one step but still)

well pre launcher you could just launch multiple clients at the same time, now it's back and forth with the switch user thingy.

When are we getthing some nice upgrades for a function wich you lot actually try having as much players as possible do (having more then 1 account).

can we finaly get something that just remembers or logs in multiple accounts in one go (up to character selection ofcourse.)

yes there is the security thing: clients already remember account names in the pretty dropdown menu so there's always been a small issue (internet cafe's, schools)

security fix: just make it only remember passwords and loggins with an explicit yes of the player.

thanks for your attention :)

Will CCP eventually support n characters per account rather than just 3?

I would love a long term vision to include:

  • One (1) account can have n characters
  • One (1) account can have n simultaneous logins.
  • One (1) account can have n active skill queues.
  • Accounts may login one (1) character per login.
  • Accounts may have one (1) active skill queue per active login + additional skill queues
  • A monthly subscription purchases: three (3) characters, one (1) login, one (1) skill queue.
  • PLEX can be used to purchase additional skill queues.
  • PLEX can be used to purchase additional character slots.
  • PLEX can be used to purchase additional logins.

Basically, separate "account" from "character" from "login" from "skill queue", though support product bundling.

One requirement for such a system: APIs cannot provide any means of showing the number of characters on an account. A given API should be able to show multiple characters, but not the total number of characters. This would support spying and other metagame activities.

Fix POSes.  Every player should want one (even if all players can't have one).

My biggest problem with your new "simpler" screen is this. YOU have decided exactly what small bit of info the players wished to know...and how to prioritize that info.

My biggest problem with that is....i don't care 'how many' skills i have completed since my last log-in....i DO want to know how many SP i have. It's not like we have the option of looking at the skills that are so proudly displayed in the log-in screen.

Please remove this useless feature...as it currently stands, if i've completed ANY skills since my last log-in, it no longer displays my current SP, but proudly shows the number of skills i've completed. Next. To. Useless. And you guys seriously play this game?

Well, it's not the old login animated screen (gonna miss them for a while, sigh) but at least it's meant to be a welcome page, unlike the old character selection screen... Lol

Very nice overall, however, I think the mail icon with the count somewhere on the portrait would be much more visible. It seems like there will be a lot of unnecessary scanning involved to see if any characters have unread mail.
Either way, nice work.

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

Great to see the expansion themes back, hopefully they're animated and have an expansion specific soundtrack too, like the old launcher!

Please make the expansion background animated. Its so 1990 with the static wallpaper. The current does not look like you're about to enter a living universe.

We're about five or six years overdo for an end-to-end code overhaul. Unfortunately adding new features that are either broken at launch or which get broken in the following expansion always seem to take precedence.

I love you guys, and for the Dev's who worked on this, this isn't aimed at you, as it isn't you guys who decide what is done next etc - that is where the designers/producers come in.

But clearly, if you asked the players. what you spent your time on developing stuff, I can't imagine this was at the top of the list for well... anyone.

And shoving it under the remit of 'NPE' is a copout - because, frankly, if new players can't figure out how to use the existing login screen, well honestly - they are going to fail very hard at playing EVE :)

There is a long list of things that still need fixing in this game that would help CCP make more money and retain more players than a new login screen, that most of us spend about 5 seconds looking at.

Edit: I should add: 5 seconds looking at before we spend the next hour ship spinning and watching the spin counter go up. Now there was dev time well spent.
