Rookie ships in wormholes??

Lately in my excursions into wormholes, I've been noticing rookie ships a lot on scan. Like... An unusual number of times. Is this some new thing people are doing? Is it some kind of weird bait trap? It's kinda freaking me out. Dying in a fire a couple times seems to have made me paranoid like that. Is this some new thing people are doing for... Some reason? Or is it just a random fluke that I'm seeing this a lot?

Note: I've been away from EvE for quite awhile. I may not be up to date on all the behaviors of wormhole dwellers.

people come in in a rookie ship and then change it out for a ship at a pos, to reduce clutter they eject them in space and are too lazy to blow them up themselves?

Dunno what else it could be, tbh

It's a new escalation mechanic, works even in lower classes. Do some research, its worth it...

Hm... Good to know. I was guessing it didn't mean anything, but one learns to be paranoid in a game like EVE.

If you light 666 cynos from 666 rookie ships the anti-bob will open a portal to K-space and let your super in.

I always figured it's just what wormhole corps do when they're scared of the visitors that just came through the new entrance and don't want to show off any even-remotely-shiny ships to tempt the intruders to log off a scout alt in their system.
