Just made a small video today showing the new speeds. I really like it very much. Interceptors will get very fun to fly but also very dangerous. Smile

That was absurd.

Geniune question, what's supposed to catch interceptors now then other than pilot stupidity and insta-locking gatecamps? Straight

the hell with gate camping , who wants to get a gang of 12 together everynight and crash each system with jump in's and insta warp to anomaly's and belts catching everything in system.

I'm really not sure what to think about all this warp speed business as yet. For one this does demonstrate that the best case scenario for warping quickly is extremely impressive but this is also using what I believe is the best possible set up for taking advantage of the new warping rules namely using an interceptor, full T2 warp speed rigs and an 8% warp speed implant. Speaking of which I have no idea what the 8% warp speed implant might cost on the real server but without looking I suspect it is neither cheap nor plentiful. So impressive as the best case scenario might be I really doubt these results will be typical.

I have heard multiple complaints that this will make blobs inescapable as the interceptors will beat you to wherever you are warping to try to escape assuming you manage to warp out and there is almost certainly some truth to this but on the other hand I also see an opportunity to separate ships which is the key to fighting outnumbered.

When you warp out and the enemy pursue they take longer to get there than you do because they have to see where you went then react which gives you a head start as they haven't even aligned yet in most cases. After next week though, If they fleet warp to chase you they will all warp at the speed of the slowest ship and so you will almost certainly escape, just like now. If they warp individually they will stagger when they show up: interceptors may well beat you to where you're going, then they will trickle in with dictors > frigates > cruisers and so on, which depending on your ship and set up may allow you to harvest the field in roughly ascending order of DPS/EHP. If only the interceptors warp on their own and the rest of the blob fleet warps, you will have a good amount of time just you and the inty to see if you can pop him and get out and even if you can't chances are you can burn to the point where lower warp speed ships will land far away and thereby allowing you the separation you were after in the first place, just don't get more than 150 km away is all.

In other words I don't really know how this will play out yet and I'm pretty much just thinking aloud here but without giving it a try I can't be sure how I really feel about this warp change other than how much better travelling just got. It does feel to me though as if this kind of speed may be a double edged sword as there are circumstances where it may work against you. The one thing that does disappoint me though is that you already rarely see battleships in low sec small gangs like you did several years ago and just like the recent NOS changes this will again make smaller hulls more appealing and thereby push battleships even farther out of low sec. Not a huge deal really as the community really decides how this ultimately plays out but I miss the occasional low sec battleship brawl. (Though not as much as I miss the Armageddon I used to use for them)

If someone is flying an interceptor who doesn't want to be caught and makes no mistakes, it may not really be possible. My suggestion in that case would be to either try to smartbomb it at an out-gate, though your timing will have to be flawless or to give up and not bang you head against the wall. Otherwise you'll have to wait until it does want to fight and then take advantage of when it makes a mistake.

:))) when inty fights where personal and fitting rails on a ranis was evil. ( small closing speeds )

Looking forward to trying and giving honest feedback even if its against it :)

I was beginning to feel like inties where being left behind with all the new t1 frig changes like they where when dictors came out with super fast speeds... but this could add in some hot spice for both null and bear sec pilots.

As to catching an inty.. send out the bait badger its your only hope.
