NPC Corps? Why cant we pick?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen things from blue or ISD commentors that make me dismiss Inxentas' comment easily.

Unsuccessful: "People shouldn't be staying in NPC corps in the first place.... so being able to pick out which one youre hiding in is just bad."

From another thread, Varius Xeral: "You will never have content geared toward you, only incidentally."

Now we do actually get a lot of content, but as stated: incidentally. Basically, content for solo PVE, things that allow a solo casual to progress and enjoy the game.

So, in a tangent, does this situation result in a content bar that's low enough to allow a real EVE alternative (not a new flavor of the month, but a solid construction), to exploit the situation to drain away semi-contented casual players and result in less subscription resources with which to keep EVE developing? (again, this is a tangent post, as opposed to not being able to switch NPC corps)

If I were in a NPC corp, I wouldn't be able to moderate the forums. What are you missing out on?

how about we force people to join a corp when they roll up their characters. No more NPC corps, they could either form their own corp with a simple 1 click action or browse the adds and join a player corp.

Dumbing down of Eve Online will result in it's destruction...

+1. NPC corp tax rates should be increased immediately to 50-60% as an incentive to get people out of them and mingling with other players.

what most people have said:

rolling a toon determines your Rookie NPC corp (normally an academy)
you join a PRC and leave that, you are then placed in a NPC holding corp related to your faction

If you live in null/low sec, joining a player corp is probably the best idea.
If you live in hi sec and don't plan to be the merc wannabe, why join a player corp? Just create your one man corp and do your stuff, or stay in npc.

After some time of wspace and null sec living with player corps, small gangs and blobs here and there, i'm enjoying for the first time the taste of the total freedom in eve online, and since i pay my own sub, i play as i want. I'm sure you can understand it. Not sure about the rest of the tough guys here but i don't give a damn anyway.

Then you're not looking hard enough. I'm sat in an NPC corp and creating content with about 50 other people in said NPC corp and about another 50 in player corps pvping and basically running a corp WITHIN a corp teaching newbros how to pvp and helping them ship up by isk donations.

I laugh at anyone who says NPC corps can't create content. Herpaderp git rid of NPC cerps soz I can haz ez killz m8m8.
