But, for Summer I don't expect another Thousand Little Things, but maybe more like a Hundred Little Things, and 1 or 2 Really Big Things.

Agree StukaBee. But what I want is Expansions every 6-12 months, I'd probably want an expansion every 12 months. Has a greater impact. BUT I do want a dedicated team full time working on small improvements. Consistently tweaking and changing the little things. If you don't have a dedicated team for that you get this massive backlog of crap that eventually breaks the game.

Dust is coming out next summer (presumably) and the eve<->dust link is nowhere to be seen. Before the Dust launch that link MUST be there so it doesn't take much of a crystal ball gazer to figure out what will occupy the time of two or three programming teams.

It truly does deserve a big thank you, all the "little things' count.

One of the"big things" I and many others would like to see some comment on is the broken war declaration mechanics. Just a hint if you guys have discussed something about it, CCP Navigator ?

Since some of the most lauded new elements where done by CCP employees who had three weeks off in their WoD scheduling (Team papercuts) I think they can and indeed will keep up with these small changes, tweaks, buffing/nerfing and artistic updates.

However the big question is what will they try doing for the next "real" expansion. Will they go back to 0.0, fix FW and nullsec, try to do that in one big move. Add new content/space/abilities/jobs/ships? I personally hope they will revamp the POS into a more modular one, make progress on the FW, and 0.0 changes and perhaps implement freeholds of some sort (I like the idea).

Together with a whole bunch of newly harvested suggestions that CCP FALLOUT has been gathering.

I THINK you may be confusing her with Soundwave, who has been collecting suggestions (I've been helping via Twitter and Facebook).

Fallout probably has a bajillion good suggestions though from her hears of being awesome for the EVE community. She will be missed.

CCP has stated their developement goals are to have a two expansions a year really. Shows what the tempo will be kind of like. I think what your talking about is, a favorite expansion. You are acting like this is your favorite expansion and wondering when the next favorite expansion or so will come. Who knows when the next favorite one comes.

I stand corrected, I indeed meant Soundwave (don't ask me why I used all caps) perhaps need someone to proofread my posts.

I see a lot of speed-completed Rubix cubes in the future of that guy in one of the dev blog videos. They might even hook him up to a blade server and Eve drones will really become sentient.

Really nice post, Wolfcan. I will attempt to address as many points as I can.

So the main question seems to be, 'Is this a flash in the pan from CCP or is this something which will continue?'. From a Community Team point of view we will be maintaining a strong presence on the forums and bringing you news and answering your questions as often as we possibly can. We understand how important Dev Blogs, video blogs and replies to important questions are to you so we will maintain that. Dev Blogs will slow up a little after the release but will pick up again in January. The reason for this is that many Devs go home (if not Icelandic natives) or go on vacations as the holidays approach. The management at CCP are also very focused on EVE Online and making sure we provide quality flying in space content.

The plan post Crucible is for us to work on as much stuff as possible which did not make it in for this release. We would love to get things like Assault Frigates ready for that release but this will depend on manpower.

The next expansion has not been decided yet, as far as I know, and will be decided when we do release planning. I can tell you that CCP Soundwave is currently looking for your little things so that his teams can start to fix all the stuff you guys request.

Once release planning takes place we will probably be in a much better position to let you all know what is coming in the next big expansion Smile

You guys (ccp) really need to get on the features list for summer. Crucible implies make or break but it does nothing to fix the fundamental problems. The feature set of summer will decide how much life eve has in it.

I've been thinking about this for a while now. With all the incredible amount of improvements to the game coming up (In such a short period of time). Can/will CCP keep up this level of iteration after Crucible is released? CCP has only scratched the surface of what needs to be done. I agree they have done an incredible job in such a short period of time. AWESOME work guys. But this tempo of DevBlogs and iterations will definately create an expecation within the community for this level of focus into the future.

So my question to the Devs is:

Whats the plans for Post Crucible?
Will we see more iteration or are you guys thinking on focusing on a new Expansion to coincide with DUST514?
Will we see this level of Devblogs going forward or will everything start slowing down whle you guys "hopefully" focus on an incredible expansion for next year?
Will "management" think, "Right, we've thrown them a bone that'll shut them up for a year?"

Loving the tempo guys, loving the Devblogs and loving seeing the Devs so excited and engaged in what they are doing at CCP. Keep up the awesome work!!!

They scrapped more than they are releasing. Anybody could keep up that pace. That tempo is ******* terribad TBH.

"Take one step forward, 3 steps back". A pace anyone can keep.

In my opinion the next release should focus on the below:

Factional Warfare – never played it myself but it needs some love.

V3 project for ship redesign to allow for corporation/Alliance logos

0.0 Sov Warfare – boring structure shooting needs to end

Ongoing POS improvements

Ongoing Ship balancing

Mining changes and ore redistribution

Making Industry more efficient in Low Sec and 0.0 sec.

Drug smuggling/selling become a viable trade – low sec only

Bounty Hunting system – numerous workable suggestions already discussed to death. The next expansion could really focus on this in my opinion as far as release name and promotional material. Would be a big boon to EVE and could, if done correctly, bring more meaning to a players security status and the various security statuses of systems. Ie: the difference between 0.5 and 0.8? not really impactful on the game. Tying it in with a Bounty hunting redesign COULD make it more meaningful.

That would make me very, very happy

I guess the answer to the OP's question really depends on his definition of "development tempo" (I actually like tempo in that context, always try to stay a step ahead of us bittervets Blink).

Currently there are many areas in which CCP gets high returns for relatively little work (papercuts etc) but hopefully this source will dry up eventually.

So the answer may depend on whether you look at CCP's outputs (features, fixes, ... expected to go down cet. paribus) or inputs (hours of work, financial commitment, ... will hopefully stay at least equal).

All right I'll be the grumpy one, since i admittedly woke up for some damn reason really grumpy this morning and haven't had my medicine (a drink) yet.

But are you talking about the updates to Crucible, or the next expansion for the look at AF's (and FW since a lot of people seem to think these are on the books together). The last I saw someone said they where not going to make it in the first release of crucible, but one of the updates after that this winter. And if it is the next expansion (summer I would guess), wasn't that one of the bigger grips before the turnaround was that you would promise stuff, but it would just keep never happing?

Also give FW some love for Thors sake! Those guys need it.

But other than that, great job. Now I'm going to find some tomato juice and vodka.

It seems like CCP realized a few months ago they had to do something about FiS as WiS and Dust would not make it this year and people had started to abandon Eve. The only they could do on such short notice was little things, so they did as many little things as possible.

It's good to see they continue to do little things. But we could also use a new large expansion that can attrackt new players (which little things won't do).
What I like about custom offices is that it allows players to take over a role that has previousely been given to NPCs. I think there are many ways Eve can be turned into much more of a sandbox, which would make the game much more dynamic and interesting.

One thing I fear is that when Dust is released, it will be received negatively by the Eve playerbase as I expect the initial interaction with Eve will be quite minimal. I just hope CCP has some more (little) things up their sleeves when that happens to keep the players happy. And that CCP has learned something about customer relations from last summer.
