I can't add bounty from the forums. Twisted

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

It is broken. Four of my characters have bounties. Their crime? They were modeling ships and organizing inventory in Rens when one character went down the guest list and assessed bounties on everyone. My character with a name beginning with 'A' was the first, and the character with a name beginning with 'Z' was the last.

Is it the end of the world? Hardly, but if I had a choice in the matter, I would have elected not to have had a bounty assessed on my characters. But I wasn't given that choice.

Last time I checked no one asks if you can put a bounty on a person. In real life a man doesn't go up to you and ask "Hey do you mind if I put 1000 (insert national currency here) on your head" . . . no they just do it because they wan't you dead.

Concord is there to deal with the crime, bounties are there to deal with capsuleer vendettas.

Dude, nobody wants me dead, and there was no "vendetta". Read the the sht again. There was only a sociopathy that resulted in no fun for any party involved - me, because I didn't want the booby prize, and the bounty-giving tooth fairy because sociopaths are incapable of self-satisfaction.

So here's a "feature" that results in negative satisfaction for everyone by design. In other words, it's broken.

I'm getting immense satisfaction from your whining and crying about it. In fact, I do think I'll up the bounty on you, myself (when I get home from work, of course).

There doesn't need to be any vendetta, either, just one capsuleer announcing that they're willing to pay another capsuleer for killing a third capsuleer's ship. Nothing difficult to understand about that, at all. The big issue, I think, is that "bounty" is being taken as some law-related term, instead of a general term.

Now, that is a change I could get behind!

Ok guys... [couldn't be arsed to quote all that other stuff]

If we, just for a moment, pretend that this hilariously bad idea gets implemented, would I be able to shoot any registered bounty hunter as soon as someone places a bounty on me? That would would be awesome, because it's a lot cheaper than those tedious High Sec wardecs...

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

Put bounty on freighter, pay the one time fee of 5 mil, blow up freighter with blaster mega, scoop loot.

Terrible idea.

Ok guys, As far as i can see the bounty system is competently broken, I regulatory see bounty griefers hovering over jita just to dock up and exploit the aggression timers in larger ships. I also see people running around with billions of isk on their heads. Today in eve a bounty is seen more as a badge of honor than something worth attacking,

My suggestion is to integrate an aggression flag based system for bounties. It works like this,

1. You pay a small fee to flag yourself as a bounty hunter, (say 5m isk) (same fee to unflag and can only be done in a station)
2. Once your flagged you can engage anyone with a bounty on their head. The engagement timers work the same as factional warfare. However. The bounties person can not open fire first. (this prevents intentional bountying to gank hunters and everyone in a region with a bounty simply nuking any given hunter)
3. Once combat has started between the two or more hunters to hunted docking abilities are disabled, preventing station hugging.
4.Upon a kill if lucky the hunter's bounty portion is paid and their ability to engage the combatant under the bounty system is disabled for say 15 mins, (normal pvp rules then apply)

This would give purpose to bounties. When i joined eve back in 2008 i really wanted to hunt down these people. However the current system is utterly broken. A case in point that i often see noobs with bounties. (the classic 111111)

Keep in-mind that this is only a suggestion and can be subject to alteration.

All trolls please stay in lowsec :)

plz tell me (maybe ive just overread it) what stops a bounty hunter to just give my freighter pilot a bunch of isk bounty (maybe through an alt) kill my freighter and take my loot?

This idea can work..

But first CCP has to refund all the bounties like it did when they "fixed" the bounty system, so that all players are back to 0 bounty.

Then make changes on how you can place bounty's only if the target player meets any of the requirements:

- target player is suspect flagged

- target player is criminal flagged

- target player has a negative security status

- target player is enemy of FW faction (must be in enrolled in FW to use this flag)

Once any player meets the requirements, anyone from anywhere can then place a bounty on them.
