Hello I'm currently running Lvl 4's with my ham tengu. and the only problem I seem to be having is with the frigs that web and scram me. I would like hear from all the other HAM tengu pilots out there that run lvl 4's. And know how they deal with the frigs in the missions.

When flying missions with a Tengu, the frigates must be your primary target because they can hit you, from there you clear cruisers and last battleships.
Frigates can be hard to kill with t2 rage so bring some t1 missils that you can use for increased damage against small targets. Also riggs can be used to increase damage against small targets such as Flare Catalyst and Rigor Catalyst.

Target painter and Javelin missiles can quickly remove frigs from the field. Start mission with javelins loaded, remove frigs then switch back to rage. Skills like Guided missile precision and Target Navigation Prediction can also help you with smaller and faster targets.

Do you have a targetpainter and Flare or rigor rigs?

If you have CCC rigs, please don't talk to me.

There isn't just one proper way to fit tengu so I don't know what's wrong with CCC on it. Also, I don't put flare or rigor rigs on mine because frigs are minor part of missions so most of the time I don't need more exp velocity or smaller exp radius.
I have one CCC I, one CCC II and Hydraulic Bay II on my active fitted HM or HAM tengu and I'm doing pirate L4 just fine.

But Flare and Rigor will increase your damage against all frigates and most cruisers. But you go with your CCC's and have fun.

I hate to repeat myself but frigs and cruisers aren't major problem in L4 missions. Also not all frigs web and scram and with TP plus javelin or precision in case of HM you would get rid of frigs way sooner then they catch you. And after you get rid of small targets your flare and rigor are a waste against bigger targets.

How about you just read the OP - he clearly said he does have problems with frigs, so rigors will help.

Missiles have to chose gank (application) or tank on rig- and medslots. It's how it is.

Why are people even talking about CCC rigs on a Tengu when they're completely unnecessary? I use the following fit and have no problems with capacitor OR frigates:

The target painter compensates for low sig radius, the flare rig compensates for the speed of frigates and if I still have any trouble (or they're out past 40k), javelins do the trick just fine. Unless you're being seriously lazy and perma-running every module for a long time, you won't have capacitor issues. I've never been capped out with this ship, even when killing Blood Raiders.

get better skills, get better rigs, or get hardwirings, or a web or painter.

You've already been given lots of advice about how to kill frigs, you just need to internalize it more. People have already suggested:

- Use a target painter
- Use flare rigs
- Use javelin missiles

Also, looking at your fit I think your mid slots could use some work. The norm for Tengus is either 2 small shield boosters or 1 medium. I prefer 1 medium purely for the purpose of conserving slots, although the tank is better with 2 small (if you need it). Also, you shouldn't be using two invuln fields, you should be using 2 x specific hardners based on the rats in the mission. This will also save you some capacitor.

It doesn't matter exactly how you do it, but you should drop one of your mid slots that has been allocated to tank and put a target painter in there. Just make sure you leave yourself with enough tank + speed to survive the mission comfortably.

The time when 2x small where normal was when Gistii B-Type Small where really cheap, but they gone up in price.
Now it's just cheaper and more effective to use 1x Pithi B-Type Small shield booster. It's enough.

I have been running lvl4 mission in my blingu for weeks and I have no problems with webbing/scramming frigates.
I use javelins for frigs/cruisers and rages for the rest.
Only elite frigates can sometimes take few more shots to put down but they will go down anyway.

I don't even use a target painter.

My blingu setup is about this at this moment, I keep pimping and blingin it as I get more dinero.

Slot 4 Crystal Delta
Slot 5 Crystal Epsilon
Slot 6 Low-grade Crystal Omega
Slot 7 Zainou "Deadeye" Missile Projection MP-705
Slot 8 Zainou "Deadeye" Guided Missile Precision GP-806
Slot 9 Zainou "Deadeye" Target Navigation Prediction TN-905
Slot 10 "Zainou" Deadeye" Rapid Launch RL-1005

Rigs are what they are but they were in my hangar ready so I just put them in and have been pleased.
Sure the setup is expensive but not expensive enough ;) I still need the Crystal Omega to replace the low-grade.
My mission ships are always less tank more gank style.

Dead rats don't do dps so no need for cap stable tank, I just pulse shield booster when needed. Cap lasts about ~5mins with all on. Cap is stable with AB off.

If I need even more tank on some missions, I can drop one invul and put mission specific hardener and extra boost amp but rarely have to do this. Sometimes I drop DCII and put 4th navy BCU for few extra dps.

This is my allaround setup that I use for missions only, ship and clone.

Frigates, no problemo. Bling, check, enough bling, never!

Heard about them, used them and I never fly alone ;D

And my blingu is nothing compared to my pimp Vigilant that is the major PIMP!
I don't even dare to release it from it's hangar. it's just floats there and I polish it regulary to keep the dust away from it's shiny hull.

Also I could just be another troll who flex about his blingu and bazillion isk implant to lure those bloothirsty suiside gankers on me just to find out that my tengu was only t1 fitted and I didn't even have implants. Then the joke is on me Lol kinda!

But with proper implants and fittings frigates are no issue to mighty Tengu, or any other npc ship that is.
Also having many many relevant skills at lvl 5 also helps alot Blink

Cheers!

Except they're not at all.

I recently switched from HML to HAM on my mission tengu.

HML:
Fury - ~665 dps out to 70k
Precision - 500dps with good damage application to 47k

HAM:
Javelin - 620 dps out to 70k with the damage application of precisions
Rage - 930 dps out to 37k

The Javelins basically take a small dps hit in order to apply better damage at the same range as heavies.
Rages give me 150% of that dps within 37k to rip through BS/BC rats.

Why would I want to use heavies?
