I bought this character.

The guy who sold it seemed to have some rather vulgar names for other characters he made.

I've been trying to figure this one out for a month.

Its the middle part I'm struggling with .

Sayyadina Helen Mohiam

Say you didn't . ?????? Oh, I am ?

Am I on the right track ?

can anyone figure out the rest the first owner was trying to get at? If its really bad you could EVE mail it to me.

Sayyadina = "friend of god" a term passed on to the girls who would become reverend mothers of the fremen people

Helen Mohiam = http://dune.wikia.com/wiki/Gaius_Helen_Mohiam/XD Essentially THE Bene Gesserit reverend mother.

You should really read dune.

For those who have read dune but don't get it, I'm guessing the conflicting title/name is a reference to the Bene Gesserit's 'meddling' on Arakkis in the past. The (wrong) implication being that mohiam could well be centuries old.

Dune ! I read a couple of those 20 years ago and I did really enjoy them.

I didn't give the guy enough credit to actually read books I guess -- : )

I thought I'd catch a virus going where-ever I googled so I didn't google it !

Thanks !

Sounds like you need to familiarize yourself with Frank Herbert's DUNE.

Sayyadina was the title of the head reverend mother for a community of of the Fremen, Helen Mohaim was the evil wench reverend mother of the Emperor.

Someone put their peanut butter in someone else's chocolate and got that name as a result.

Yeah, The Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam (now that's a hell of a title) never had a chance to be a Sayyadina.

The original Dune series is amazing. A pinnacle of the sc-fi genre.

...darn... she's going to need to form a different corp.

I just assumed it was bad and formed a bad-girl named corp for her.

I'd need to give her a new hair cut too... hmmm I 'm sort of disappointed that I didn't buy a floozy.

Yes it is . *

I'd hate to disrespect it.

(edit.. don't want to imply too much sci fi knowledge -- lots of books were recommended, only this and a few others truly impressed.. didn't make it through the whole series but don't think you need to read both Grapes of Wrath and Cannery Row to have heard what Steinbeck contributes to literature either)

edit .. oh snap. those are the rivals !

OH GOOD

it isn't as bad as I thought !

from the wikpedia

Quote:
They are described as an aggressive cult obsessed with power, violence, and sexual domination. For this reason they are often described as "whores," especially by their enemies, the Bene Gesserit.

Thats the Honored Matres above.

The Benne Gesserit Reveren Mothers don't seem to mind using their sexual wiles either but they're less trashy about it I guess ; )

Quote:
The Reverend Mother must combine the seductive wiles of a courtesan with the untouchable majesty of a virgin goddess, holding these attributes in tension so long as the powers of her youth endure. For when youth and beauty have gone, she will find that the place-between, once occupied by tension, has become a wellspring of cunning and resourcefulness.

How can you call yourself a sci-fi fan if you don't catch obvious Dune references?

Yeah, ... I never did call myself a Sci Fi fan... I don't particularly like the genre

but .. good writing is good writing no matter what the genre . I did enjoy Dune ... mostly because of the colorful feudalism.. and doses of the philosophy.

"fear is the mind killer" is something I took with me from the book and have repeated to myself over the last 20 plus years

1500 pages of it was enough to have my fill....but it was a good fill. I don't really remember names of characters in books and 25 years later (probably read it in 1988) lots of memory space gets re-used.

Why play space ships ?lol? I don't like space ships.. but I do like virtual worlds(especially when player history is there to see), human sandbox interaction, and trading and economy elements in games. The idea that 1000s of humans vie against each other in given moments is astounding.
