and all of the other things the player base has done?

We all know the real story that draws people into this game is what goes on outside of CCP control.

The thefts, scams, wars, battles and the lawlessness that goes on in this game on a daily basis is what draws in new players. Their stories are the ones people are interested in hearing because real players are behind them. Not anything created by the developers, and CCP knows this. They encourage this and are proud of the fact their game is this way.

However if you take what has been written down in the wiki as the back story to this game, there is nothing that connects these player based stories to any of the cannon history.

You would think a battle of over 4000 ships would at least worry one of the empires to sue for peace. Or the Amarr Empress would have sent an envoy to The Mittani to see if the Goons would be interested in invading Minmatar space.

Right now most players in this game could care less about the back-story because it has little to nothing to do with the game they are playing. And I can see why, when the real lore of EVE (the player’s stories) is being ignored and not being used as part of the cannon of this game.

If CCP is so adamant that the real story of EVE is the player’s stories, why are they not acknowledging these accomplishments into the story they already have? What better way to encourage players to leave their mark on this game.

It's the standard in MMO stories that players are faceless entities. In WoW and god knows how many other fantasy MMO's players are the faceless "adventurers" that brought down the evil of the week, we have a different blanket term, capsuleers. And personally if we start ackonwledging goonswarms and test alliances as in game lore then I stop caring about the lore. I have nothing against proper well known RP entities incorporated in the lore, but if you want to be included in the lore, you should at least be "dressed for the occasion." That means for me at the very least having a name that can be worked in to an in character setting.

If the empires who control mind transfer after podding had to really take notice of player capsuleer's deeds, Tranquility would be a very lonely place... Roll

EVE lore and EVE gameplay are like water and oil. They don't mix well because, as Svetlana Scarlet put it, EVE capsuleers behave like people playing a video game, not as real people, and the world is set to function as a video game, not subject to the burden of being "real".

There is an on-going project to record the player history of the game

http://truestories.eveonline.com/truestories/index.html

and I believe some further 'integration' between the two different types of history has been discussed but, as others have mentioned, the two counter running histories are not easy bedfellows. In any case, it seems like CCP are keen to focus on the rise of the capsuleer as a competing power to the established forces of Concord and the Empires, so watch this space.

Ultimately, if you don't see something you'd like to see then make it yourself. There's tons of resources available to allow you to add correct lore to your own player influenced fiction. I've always thought the best way imagine how the player actions of the null sec power blocs would effect the NPC masses in Empire is that of the pebble in the water i.e. at point of contact (null sec) the ramifications are huge but once the ripples spread out over the massive distances between null and empire, much time has passed and the impact has lessened. The news that finally arrives Empire planetside of a large scale null sec player event would sketchy at best. Remember also that null sec is essentially lawless, hostile space. I'm not sure how much the Empires would want their subjects to know about it. If all your downtrodden tax paying farmers and industrial workers suddenly found out there was a place they could run to with no taxes and laws, might you not have a problem?

As I say, ripple effect always seemed like the best way of moderate integration to me, such as seeing masses of homeless NPC's begging in stations and someone saying they were all bankrupted by the fall of Ebank, or stuff like that.

Another Point to this is the high volatility of anything capsuleers have built so far.

If you look at the timescales the empires measure themselves in. Their rise/falls and wars. And then look at the big powers in the last 10 years of capsuleer history, then the capsuleers practically don´t exist yet.

From the eyes of established administrations the corps/alliances are still on the organisational Level of street gangs or barbarian hordes. When a charismatic/capable leader emerges he/she quickly gathers a host of followers. While in themselves a power to be rekoned with These organisations usually vanish the Moment the leader loses interest or the first major setback takes place.

With that in mind the history books surely have a place for reports on the gangwars at the edge of civilisation or the escapades of a notoriousd criminal.
But to date it is doubtful if there is any capsuleer Organisation that would offer the stability/longivity to be called a Nation/Empire.

This may change, and as ccp´s current storylines seem to imply the capsuleers are becoming less of a new oddity and more a regular inhabitant of the eve universe.
