What you are looking for is called "test server"

Nope. Test server adds content.

I'm talking about going back to a simpler day. When 0.0 was actually wild. When all you needed was a handful of buddies to go have some fun.

you obviously dont get out much do you? you can get that same fun going into hostile space for a little cruise.

This is an idea that's probably been floated before:

Start a new instance of the Eve Online universe, reinstate the game as it was much closer to release.

All characters on this instance of the universe start fresh.

Things got too complicated. 500 vs 500 fleet fights and titans and capital ships, POS (This is coming from a guy who owned a titan when there were maybe 40 of them ever built).

It was a natural evolution for the game, adding content etc over the years. It was inevitable but I think the game was better in it more raw form closer to release.

Personally I just think a reset would be a LOT of fun and bring back a lot of people who've stopped playing (like myself).

Thoughts? Flame? All is welcome.

Isn't this a logical fallacy?

I'm not usually one for calling out these threads...

But...

Oh look, it's this thread... Again...

I'm fairly certain this has been suggested multiple thousand times.

No. The only second server that should exist would be the one for tests. I really hope that someday the Chinese server will be integrated into ours.

And the first thing that would happen would be a MASSIVE powerblock formation .

You can take away the current game setup but you can not take away the current mindset.

OP...

Please sit down, and be quiet.

This idea is dumb.

Adapt and deal, just like everyone else did.

hahaha so many people are hilariously hostile it makes me laugh.

A simple idea mentioned by someone with absolutely no influence or ability to make any change gets people so angy and worked up.

Buddy you're telling me to "adapt and deal, just like everyone else did". If this is your main you've been playing since 2011. I was playing since 2004. That's seven years worth of additional content to which I adapted. Why you're even commenting here is beyond me.

If you don't think my idea is a good one thats totally cool. Lots of people here have actually posted some pretty compelling arguements as to why it wouldn't work and that's great.

You sir, have nothing to add so, please sit down, and be quiet.

I take it you're volunteering to port 10 years of security and bugfixes (and any future ones) to an old codebase, modify the parts of code that were designed to run on 10 year old hardware to use modern hardware, pay for a second set of servers and the second ops team needed to run them.

Oh, and you'd have to randomize a bunch of game mechanics too obviously. Otherwise people would know exactly what to do to get ahead but you're fine with that right?

The one good thing about this would be all the character names and corp tickers that would be open again. Curse you, person who took Space Heater and never logged in again!

I've been thinking about this lately. Eve has become a bit stagnant, but that's inevitable as the sandbox reaches a steady state. I still love the Tranquility landscape, but the sense of pioneering has been lost. I hope their efforts toward stargate construction and finding new systems as part of the larger direction the game is going will renew that feeling.

So, I don't think a new shard is the answer as eventually that too would reach a steady state and it'd be over again. The non-trivial amount of work this would take and the risks like cannibalizing Tranquility activity is just too high a price to pay. The aforementioned direction the game is taking is your best bet for getting that new fresh feeling out of Eve.
