so I plan to kick off the new year with a bang and what better way than more literal than figurative. By this I am saying I would like to organize a mass smartbombing of every major trade hub at their peak activity hours. I am talking as many ships and players interested in doing so for as long as you and your wallets can handle. mark your calanders for one hour before new years in your respective timezones and celebrate the coming of a new year with a real bang. This is a bring your own booze party, strippers will be handed out upon request (limit 2)

please alert as many others who would be interested in this to get in on the action

you can join the Channel "New Years Planning Room" to chat, plan, and generally screw around

Stay classy New Eden and have a happy new year

Seems a rather pointless and expensive way to go

Trade hubs have huuuuuuuuuuuuuge station radii. There'll be nothing in range for you to smartbomb.

Have fun finding a place 5km from station that actually has people.

Now, more than ever, we need a dislike button.

so much negativity.

ever hear of burning up next to a group of guys THEN lighting smartbombs? as for cost what kind of eve player is so broke they cannot replace even one battleship? as for radii you clearly haven't been around jita or rens which from all my experiences have an almost unnaturally large amount of people clustered together as they leave dock you might not catch frigs, but the undocking freighters will be easy pickings, which is the target anyways

So... why not use the standard gank ships, then? Using a group of battleships to smartbomb seems silly when a group of Tornadoes or Talos(i/es/something) will do significantly more damage to the target ships. Cheaper to replace, too, considering you can get multiple Tier 3 BC's for the price of a single BS.

More reliable, too boot, when considering CONCORD.

it's not "BS cost" but:
- getting SS back to comfort level (farming in 0.0 or spending lots of ISK to SS tags)
- lots of killrights you will have in empire

As mostly high-sec dweller i don't feel myself comfortable having free and "almost free" killrights on my ass Lol

Jita station has that long 'arm' that is parallel to the direction you face as you undock. You can go 50km from the true undock and still be 0m from station.

It also has an almost unnaturally large docking radius, so that even the freighters will always stay within it as they align to warp. The Jita undock sits at roughly -30 – -40km from the docking range so unless you have 45km-radius smartbombs, you won't reach those people.

Burning up next to a group and then lighting the SBs work if that group is not inside the docking radius. In Jita, they are. So that particular tactic won't work.

The best you could hope for is to sit at the “warp to 5km” spot between 4-4 and the Perimeter gate and catch people as they come out of warp, but even then, the chances of doing any real damage is pretty slim.

By all means voice any way to make this more successful I do appreciate the alternatives that are better ideas than my original plan. I have been cooking this up on a respectable amount whiskey and a few of my friends smartbombing battleships sounded fun but I do prefer a more effective route to achieve the same result. I still do want to see the Galaxy wide fireworks show doesn't matter to me how it is done. I am simply looking to have a little fun in high sec and hopefully make this big enough to catch a few eyes and keep it a memorable moment :)
