its like when plex was made.... its not that ccp does not like rmt they want to make sure they get a cutt of the rmt. otherwise that seller is steeling from ccp hands.

what ccp has to make clear is there is sanctioned RMT and non sanctioned RMT.

lmao this has to be a troll nobody can seriously think that a space lottery with zero accountability is something that any gaming company would even have on their radar as a "business partner"

According to CCP CANTREMEMBERTHENAME everything what SOMER does is 100% legitz

I take cash, credit, debit, check, money order, cashiers check and pallets of Quafe

If I get ISK, but spent no extra real money, why is it RMT?

Because someone else (the retailer) did spend extra money, taken from the cash you paid him. Sure, this obfuscates the trail in comparison to a straight isk for cash transaction but the underlying reality is the same. Someone gives you isk and they get cash. The fact that you take the isk and then give the cash to a third party who transfers a portion of it to the person who gave you the isk doesn't undermine the fact that an isk/cash transaction has occurred.

For the record, I don't actually have any moral problem with either complex RMT or simple direct RMT. What I don't like is the idea that a) CCP is giving Somer ingame advantages over other players and their organisations because he does out of game stuff that brings them in more money; and b) that they are not applying their anti-rmt policy to favoured individuals/organisations.

There are two types of EVE player:

those who believe there are two types of EVE player and those who do not.

More like: a particular player is allowed to RMT in a roundabout way for hundreds of thousands of dollars, while other players that attempt to RMT in the same exact way are threatened by CCP.

as i recall dns black thread was unlocked and from the article the person attempting to commit rmt got away with it...

it seems there are guidelines that can be followed but they are just not that clear just yet.

I added the following sources to my original post, it's not just DNSblack that was locked for RMTing in the same exact way.

Interesting the third link is not locked and is on page 16... perhaps he is playing with in the rules.

The only thing I can't get is...

CCP has had a couple of bad runs at doing player events. Why not use the models that have proven to work and give yourself another run at it? Why wouldn't CCP just run their own official auctions?

The profit potential as well as customer morale potential that could be gained is incredible. People want to go to CCP directly for things and people want to trust CCP with their models and business.

CCP has a hole in their business for good player events...
the obvious solution just screams to be seized upon.

But CCP turns around and hands the business to someone who may very well just be running an elaborate scam and EULA violating scheme??

The whole Somer thing just leaves another bad taste in everyones mouth. Whether it's legit or not.

(it does seem shady to me, but it's complicated enough I really don't know nor am I going to study it out).

It's not RMT for you, but for Somer.

You pay money to a reseller and get a GTC back.
Reseller pays money to Somer and get their referrals.
Somer gets money from a reseller and gives you Somer credit.
You spend Somer credit and win ISK.
Somer pays you ISK from their wallet.

In the end:
You spend money and gain a GTC and ISK.
The reseller gets money and gives out a GTC.
Somer spends ISK and gains real money. (Somer credit is just numbers in a spreadsheet.)

Is this RMT, or is this just Somer giving an incentive for you to use their affiliate link? That's up to CCP to decide.

Consider the infamous paperclip trade: "I offer to sell you a paperclip for $30. As an incentive for you to accept this trade, I will send you 2b ISK in EVE." Is this RMT, or is this just an added incentive to conduct a completely out-of-game trade?

Or can we expect "radio silence" from CCP's Fortress of Hypocrisy in Iceland?

I think you got your answer

Any spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are because frankly, I don't care!!
