ok so pyfa tells me that my max ability too boost laser optimization is 32.3 with mindlink and max skills

I have decent skills right now but I am only getting 15.3. by all my calculations my max with all skills is almost 25.

it does not seem possible to boost past 25 under any circumstances in an orca. Whats up?

And I can confirm this is what my Orca is getting.

Oddly enough, my friend has this exact skill set and implant yet I am similar to the original poster - I can almost reach 25 km when she is boosting. I figured it was the limitations of using a Hulk playing a reducing role, even with my Targeting skill at level 5.

As there was a similar thread a few days ago, are you sure your limit is the laser range? If you can't lock targets past 25k the mining link will not help you. You'll need a sensor booster or a similar module.

Range is a different link: Mining Foreman - Laser Field Enhancement II. It has a 17% base.

17% * (1 + 5 * 20%) * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 5 * 3%) * (1 + 25%) = 73.3125%

Which I can also confirm is what my Orca is getting.

With a Modulated Strip Miner II, that's 15 km * (1 + 73.3125%) = 25.996875 km

As all barges & exhumers have a 22.5 km targeting range, the miner should have Long Range Targeting 4 (20% bonus).
[Need a 15.5416% targeting range bonus to make use of laser range.]

A Rorqual is a bit more:
17% * (1 + 5 * 20%) * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 5 * 10%) * (1 + 25%) = 95.625%
15 km * (1 + 0.95625) = 29.34375
Information Warfare 5 (10% bonus) is a must for Rorqual pilots, for miners without Long Range Targeting 5 trained.
[Need 30.416% targeting range bonus to make use of laser range.]

I can also confirm that with a perfectly skilled orca pilot (w/ mindlink), maximum laser range is ~25.6 km or so.
