How about CCP just introduces a paintshop.

Then the market for limited edition ships would plummet (like the Sarum Magnate and Sukuuvesta Heron)

Other ships which provide module boosts like the Guardian-Vexor would still be valuable but the paint-custom rares would soon die out and be worthless.

There's nothing wrong with this. And those models could see other enhancements or customizations later.

I imagine when they implement skins for ships, the rare ones will remain unique skins though. But most Tech 2 skins will become usable on any hull.

It's a recipe for disaster. The slightest blinging of any ship can cause a market crash.

I would like to think that in several thousand years, mankind will have long-since moved past the "ricer boy" concept of making your vehicle look like something better, without the performance numbers to back it up...

Two Solutions:

1. Every Ship in the Game SHOULD be obtainable, via NPC BPC Drops some way or somehow. Even if the ONLY Difference is a visual one.

2. Introduce a new "Module" Slot for "Paint Scheme". Convert many of the currently unused (by players) ship designs or colors to be NPC dropable modules of this type. Also, new NPC Corp schemes could be designed and sold for LP via those NPC corps LP Stores. Final iteration would allow players to design their own "Alliance Paint Scheme" and to have exclusive access to manufacture and distribute those "paint modules". of course, all would be dropable loot (albeit with a low drop %) if the ship equipped with it were destroyed.

Combine this ise with the new Salvager-of-Implants module the game needs to harvest podded pilots implant parts for making other implants via manufacturing.

Hell, these two things alone could backbone an EVE "Expansion" and I think would be beloved by one and all.

Sadly, the versions that are around that can actually be piloted don't pwn nearly as hard as the NPC versions. Sad

Likely not, but the Minmatar have embraced the Paul Newman concept of souping up a pile of junk to make it awesome.

Also good.

I'd rather have a NeX store that sells Ishukone Watch Scorpions than hear about a giveaway scandal for two months all over again.

On the other hand, I'd rather have an LP store for each NPC corp that sells ship skins. Like a Quafe LP store that sells Quafe skinned Gallente ships.

But oh boo-hoo, that might crash the precious market for your fanfest ships, right?

Let's exclude new content ideas so that people can continue getting rich off cheap giveaways that could have been the backbone for a whole new feature of EVE ship customization. Maybe they should do that for everything graphical. Only people who attend fanfest or EVE Vegas should get a special platinum PLEX that offers DX11 features, otherwise you have to buy it for 5 billion off the market. It's only vanity, right?

"Sleepers" are the complete and total polar freaking opposite of "Ricer" cars, in every way/shape/form.
Making something truly awesome look completely non-threatening vs making something look like more than it really is (and failing, miserably, more often than not).

Contrary to popular belief; EVE, alcohol, and my Whovian girlfriend are not my only interests in life. I also build wicked fast race cars out of old Datsuns :)

Why? Just because you wants? I don't see the need for it really. Having npc only hulls helps build legitimacy to the lore behind those factions. Perhaps it is only this that spawns your desire for the hull in the first place.

i'd like to see players being able to join concord. allow them use concord hulls just dont make them as op as the npc ones.

make it that you need a standing of 9.0 or higher with concord (running sansha incursions could get you that standing)

you can only board a concord hull if you are a police officer (ie join concord corp).

you can only kill people if they are flagged by concord
