Seen phoenix in action once or twice and only advantage it got it doesnt need targets to be webbed to very low speeds to hit them compared to turret ships, but they dmg is still pretty low imo.

The problem here is that the explosion velocity of capital missiles is so low that anything that moves takes reduced damage, even capitals unless they're webbed to hell and back. On top of that, even a stationary sub-capital takes very much less than full damage (unless someone was unfortunate enough to get their BS caught with its MWD running), something that doesn't happen with guns, because the explosion radius is huge. Net result - anything but a POS takes reduced damage from an already mediocre DPS weapon system.

A further problem is that this feeds into the "Armour or GTFO" meta for cap fleets (and thus the sub-cap fleets that support them), because the shield-only Dread is a non-starter for serious use. Add in the Archon being the premier carrier, and the Leviathan being limited to KE damage (not exactly a sought-after damage type in PvP) and, well, "Armour or GTFO".

So stationary capitals (sieged dreads and triaged carriers) are that rare in capital combat? Serious question. Super capitals will be hit with full damage by capital missiles anyhow, moving or not.
