how are you a captain in eve? there are the big FC's. okay lets say 100 real FC's. the rest are in control of one ship I don't see much of a captain there mate

Captains are in charge of a ship

Commodores and Admirals are in charge of fleets

Thanks, I was trying to figure out a reply to such a "captian obvious" post and couldn't come up with anyhting...because i was laughing too hard.

Everyone should be thanking the OP. His continued subscription fee for membership in the "SC is better than EVE/EVE is dying" club is funding Rubicon. This guy pays up to 20 bucks a month per account just to post this garbage.

And about the video: First, did you see that epic fight? There were TWO small ships in there! I mean holy crap, TWO ships fighting? Who could even imagine something so epic? And second, the parts that appeared to be real gameplay clips looked totally adequate! How amazing is that! I mean, this game could potentially handle THREE or maybe even FOUR tiny ships fighting before the graphics fail! So epic! EVE is dying! My stuff! Who wants it!?!

See Bio for isk doubling rules. If you didn't read bio, chances are you funded those who did.

Im signing up now for the SC forums so that anyone who cries about SC mechanics can be told to "Go back to EVE".

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

That looks great. However, i'm a space ship CAPTAIN not some lowly expendable stick jocky, so no thanks.

Typically pilots (or "stick jocky") are Captains within the Airforce. However the connection between rank and position is a bit flexible. Even many pilots of the space shuttle are mostly Airforce captains. Probably because it is still flown within the Earth's atmosphere upon re-entry.

However, in scifi, space ship crews are often depicted as using navy ranks.

Smaller ships (frigates and destroyers) would be piloted by someone of the Commander rank however, despite their rank, they are still addressed as the Captain if they are the one in charge of the ship as per custom. Navy Captains (person of actual rank) are usually in charge of ships that are cruiser or larger. But regarding ships that are more like drones (including fighter and bomber drones) in EVE (and I would loosely include intercepters) is more inline with the airforce which would most likely be an Airforce Captain. If you stick with the navy ranks then you are looking at a Lieutenant.

As I said, rank and position are in a loose relationship. It's possible to have someone with the rank of Captain in charge of a frigate or destroyer just as it's possible to have someone with the rank of Commander in charge of a battleship.

If Valkyrie ends up being a better game than Star Citizen, will the tears of the fanboys on their forums be more or less nutritious than those harvested in EVE?

Also moar PVP sliders please.
