Hey guys,

I recently had to redo some of my mac's HD and external drives. Because of this, I ended up deleting several very large games(eve included). Which led me to re-download the app.

The game wouldn't launch! Here's what I did to fix it.

1) (IF this is a new download...) open the EVE.dmg under Disk Utility and verify/repair it. There is a small chance that something did in fact go wrong during the 7gig+ download. If the checksum say's its okay... continue to step two.

2) Reset your NVRAM/PRAM: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379

3) Run terminal and enter:
Quote:
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/EVE Online.app"

What does this do?
xattr - Extended Attributes modification
-d - Delete
com.apple.quarantine - The extended attribute applied on new downloads so that the new download warning comes up
"//Applications/... - The default install folder for EVE

Or, you could go into System Preferences > Security & Privacy and under "Allow apps downloaded from:" make sure "Anywhere" is ticked.

To avoid quarantine you can also hold down Ctrl when selecting "Open" from the right-click menu on the icon for the DMG. The relevant error message here would only be one about the application or image not being signed by an authorised developer (i.e.: one who has signed up for the ADC and applied for a developer signing key).
