So I tried to gangk a mission runner in FW space the other day and warped into his site and was red boxed by the NPCs. I figured that they were going to help me, but no, for some reason, they don't like any capsuleers? Shouldn't they behave just like their PLEX counterparts?

Yeah it is annoying.

It is easier to let them finish the mission and camp the jump gate on the most likely exit from that system. (99% of the time they will follow the route plotted by autopilot to their home system)

Yeah, that's a bug, looks like; I've had at least one instance where I tried to set up an ambush in a mission complex only to catch full aggro from the rats that were supposed to be on my fbeeping side.

It has something to do with exploiting mechanics.

If those do not shoot everyone it would be too easy to gank mission objective with opposing militia alts.

It's not a bug. According to those who make all the decisions, it is working as intended.

Sad but true. CCP will rather deliberately break something (AI targeting) than fix something (FW mission farmability).

Suggested back in FW year two, when solo-bomber mission whoring was peaking, that instead of a single large'ish ship needing a smack down that the "target" be expanded to include the entire commander spawn group (ie. normally includes a few elite cruisers or frigates).
Instead CCP opted for a built-in protection of the solo-bomber whores .. go figure Big smile
