Nope, sorry, it doesn't... Sony is developing a similar device based on the same principles for PS4.

And, one could conclude that MS is or will be attempting to do the same.

Oculus goofed up, imo, by revealing before the next gen console release. If they had posted it after, they'd have given the respective companies a lot to worry about to try and fit them backwards compatible with their consoles.

They would be idiots to design a game for a piece of kit (The Rift) which is only intended for initial release on PC, for any other platform than the PC.

Whatever. If CCP wants to **** up Valkyrie like they did Dust, then it let it fail. I'll have plenty of other Rift space games with equal or better (Rebirth) graphics to play.

In the real world people are not allowed to confirm anything until the marketing department rubberstamps it.

this article is a load of hot air and nothing. obviously it will release on PC because OR is not being developped for any other platform right now, but until the marketing blurb goes out nothing will be confirmed -- this is a standard industry practice.

I hope they have learned from the faliure of DUST.

The fans of CCP play their games on computers.
Even though I plan on buying a PS4, I will be bummed out if VAL doesnt come out on the PC.

The situation now: I have a PS3, but playing FPS games with a gamepad is like shaving with a rock. Thus I do not play DUST.

Valkyire will be more suited for the gamepad, but the core audience is still on PC.
So even though it doesnt have to be a PC excusive. It sure as hell needs to be there.

I wouldn't want to admit that its being produced by EA and coming out for the Xbone exclusively either.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

1. there is an average of 3-4k dedicated players on all the time

2. dust can use a mouse and keyboard

VEry unlikely it could go to console due to the rigidity of that medium. Either PC or specialized device.

Oh wow, 3-4k active players who don't have to pay to play. I'm sure that's working out for them well. Free to Play games are supposed to attract massive crowds of players who might spend the occasional tenner. Not tiny cult followings.

I can tell you never played dust otherwise you would know how training sp works... if you want to train sp at a decent rate you pay for the implant s...

Not sure what the actual metrics are for people purchasing goods are but I would bet most of the hardcore players do...

Even if, by the generous metric of 50%, you account for the hardcore players buying stuff, that's only about 2-3k.

CCP spent years on this, and probably lots of dough to boot. They also have to pay for the servers.

For 2-3 thousand people? There is no equation where that isn't a colossal waste of time.

the game most likely was expected to take a loss for the first few years of operation, and gain players as it became more popular. That's p miuch what happens to any MMO game that is not a runaway hit. you have to plan for that eventuality in any business plan.

Not true. Most MMOs start out acceptably strong then bleed off players after a few months.

DUST is just a flop. They tried, I get it. And now it's coupled in with EVE, so it's not easily gotten rid of.

But we still get to say "We told you so".

loading gameboy batteries

how to fix eve: 1) remove ECM 2) rename dampeners to ECM 3) add new anti-drone ewar for caldari 4) give offgrid boosters ongrid combat value

thats active at any point in time. so that could be up to 12-24 k people who play each day.

that does not account for weekend warriors. and the fact that one of the boosters you dont have to play to gain sp... its called the passive booster.

i would guess that the average dust player pays on average $20 a month

Actually, as has been pointed out before, the beauty of DUST is that it doesn't need a huge player base to be profitable long term. Much like EVE, it is starting with a small but loyal base that will grow as the game does over time. It's not designed to be a big bang that dies after a few months, it's designed for the slow burn.

I wouldn't count it out just yet.

interesting fact eve was also a flop... but it had hardcore dedicated players who helped the game evolve to what it is today...

not saying this will happen with dust. but that is what they are shooting for.

they have hardcore dedicated players who are determined to work with the devs to make the game better.

the fact they are doing montly point releases to fix the game proves this.
