With this announcement from eve Vegas http://imgur.com/a/lvm0L that the war barge will be a pilotable ship in eve I am eager to know when there will be more information about it to be released.

The first thing that came to my mind when I saw this thread's name was space marines battle barges. Turns out, it's pretty much exactly what I was thinking.

Future of T3 cruisers - multi-tool they aspired to be instead of sledgehammer they have become

Re: OP -> so it looks like only the war barge will be vulnerable to planetary defenses... as the rest of use won't need to worry about being alpha'd by the planet.
I guess this mechanic means: The Dusties have a limited amount of time to take the district before their war barge is destroyed....

Unless the attackers have logi repping the warbarge, which means that it will be likely that taking each planet will require at least a small fleet, if one is going to dedicate logis, then they'll likely have destroyers for OB as well.

So I guess that will make the logistics (not RR, real logistics) of taking space harder... the main capital fleet can press further, but smaller flottillas will need to remain behind to support the war barges

Regarding what they say about moving resources from the planet to the warbarge - I wonder if War barges will basically function like mobile POCOs
