I wonder how much disk space those portrait images consume? Assuming that in January 2011 there was around 9 Mil characters and one portrait image size is 8Kb all archive should be around 70 Gigabytes?

Hopefully you can do something about it. Although it's been a short time for me personally, I don't like the thought of not being able to access the old portraits of my first characters.

They are part of the "old" New Eden.

Remove standings and insurance.

I would like to thank CCP Falcon and CCP Explorer for looking into this. I had my old portraits saved for old time’s sake. And then the hard drive they were on crashed and I have had no luck recovering them.

Shang Tung thank you for that post, I was not able to find any of the portraits I wanted to recover. However, it was fascinating to see the old web pages again; I had no idea any thing like that existed.

It would be interesting to have an online museum where you could view a time line that showed how some object/item had changed over time. For example; the Scythe has had its 3D model and game stats changed a few times, also the Stealth Bomber’s stats received a major over haul awhile back and mines are not even in the game anymore.

I miss the old character creator. it used to make characters look good even if the player doesn't touch anything... I used to just stick sunglasses on the toons I made and just go with that Lol

Just copy the old portraits over to a folder on the new server, problem solved.

These are a part of history, and as such must be kept, surely!
If you don't want to keep them, I'm sure we can. I'd host a copy of them. In fact, I'm sure Chribba would be willing to set up an archive for them since he's some kind of ninja. Give Chribba a Titan that fan fit strip miners, then get him to host them.

I have copies of all my old toon images saved onto disc as well as my external HD - just in case.

It amuses me to compare the new toon images with the old ones - although I did spend an inordinate amount of time trying to replicate the originals as closely as possible. Hence the MASSIVE chin on my mate Black Bill. Pirate
My missus thinks of EvE as 'the other woman'. :)
