Greets!

I bought something at "Rivayed IX - Moon 12 - Hedion University" and clicked "set destination" - made 3 hops and there was no more yellow gate or station.

I went back (i thought) and now everything says "2147483647 jumps"
For example, in my "People & Places" and my "Personal Assets."

I undocked and the "Sun" icon indicates: "Mehatoor 0.7 < Kisana < Devoid"
The 3 stargates listed are Raa, Gheth, & Eradan.

I jumped through "Gheth" and still have the "2147483647 jumps" in everything.

I "Quit Game" and logged back in, same nr of jumps.

Ideas how I can fix that??

Check your autopilot's avoidance list. You're likely trying to avoid some system(s) which make your destination unreachable.

You picked to avoid a system that would be required to reach your destination. This number you're seeing is the maximum value of a 32-bit integer, might as well be infinite, because assuming that the autopilot does not pass through the system you told it to avoid it's impossible.

Click the autopilot settings (the A next to the word Route) and go mess with the systems you have avoided.

It's worth experimenting with those settings a bit and remembering they are there when a lowsec shortcut is an option.

If I'm flying a 50m ship, I have no issue taking three jumps through low to save ten jumps. If I'm in something I don't want to lose, I will go the long way instead.

just be careful about those "shortcuts" ... some (Amamake, Rancer) are a pretty much guaranteed way to die if you fly in blind. Use a scout.

One of the bitter points of a good bittervet is the realisation that all those SP don't really do much, and that the newbie is having much more fun with what little he has. - Tippia

Systems I have on my autopilot to avoid when I'm not looking for trouble:
* Rancer - "You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy."
* Amamake - FW border system
* Old Man Star - FW border system
* Tama - FW border system

I avoid Egghelende as well, unless I am in an interceptor. There's a couple of dead end lowsec systems I tend to avoid too, Basgerin amongst them, although there's less reason to go there anyway.

Note that:
* "Prefer Shorter" ignores security level.

Then there are two modes that consider security level:
* "Prefer Safer" stays in 0.5 to 1.0 when possible.
* "Prefer Less Secure" stay in -1.0 to 0.4 where possible.
* "Security Penalty" slider is the lowest truesec security level to route through. i.e. 45 = 0.45 security = 0.5 displayed security level a.k.a. stay in hisec.

Skills that depend on range use your current auto-pilot settings. So if you are station trading and never undock, it is okay to set your route to shortest and penalty 0.

If you ever find a mission where you are sent >5 jumps, there probably is a more dangerous but shorter direct route. I've had a 23 jump route reduced to 3 jumps through lowsec.

Yes

Unsigned it's a bit over 4 billion instead of 2

Jita...although it's added by default (or at least that used to be the case).

I only travel through Jita...if I need to be in Jita.

Yep. I respect those guys. Very strong solo PVPers, at least in my encounters with them. Only lost one ship to them but have had other close calls where I've been narrowly able to flee when I used to go there often.

I too have fond memories of a few GF's in Basgerin. We once got our fleet hotdropped, I traded my Tempest for a Falcon kill... to bad they had a second one! Big smile If you are looking for a fight systems like this are actually quite cool, when you have an inkling of the group you go up against you might get a surprisingly good fight.

I think Jita's on the "avoid" list by default when you install EVE, to try to mitigate traffic jams.
