I wrote a lot of text to start of this topic and its all magically gone...great forum...

Guess my text is lost in the great cyber graveyard where things never can get recalled....

Anyway...perhaps you can make out what this is about by just the title...because I really don't have the energy to write it again

Wonder why I neglected to copy all text Before I posted knowing something like this could happen....Ugh

How much is your bounty?

Lol, glitchpost.

Anyways, the bounty doesn't actually do anything.

Not really.

Regardless of how much bounty you have, the payout will only be up to ~20% of the value of whatever you're flying. This means if it isn't worth killing, even if you have a 10 bil bounty, you're still not worth killing. A freighter carrying 900mil worth of stuff may suddenly be worth killing with an extra 20% value. But a 10 mil cruiser isn't worth ganking just for an extra 2 mil in highsec.

Not a forum alt.

Kill yourself in a cruiser or two with an alt if the sign bothers you.

Personally, I think it sexifies my picture EVEN MOAR

It is essentially meaningless which is the biggest problem. I do think it needs to be smaller and there needs to be different thresholds. Someone with a 50k isk bounty shouldn't have the same graphic as someone with a 50 billion isk one.

Bounties are useless. They are only good for making people who don't know they are useless cry. I seriously saw this in the minerbumping channel the other night:

PilotX: FINALLY! My bounty is up to a respectable level. :)

That's what the bad people of Eve all think about bounties. The bigger the better.

Funny saying this considering I am a supporter of the New Order, but bounties sole actual use is to cause carebear grief. That hardly seems like a legitimate game mechanic and should be done away with. Although not before giving Ramona more ways to sex up her avatar.

It vanished because your computer was trying to salvage your dignity. It was trying to do you a favor, but you posted anyway.

Next time, listen to your computer.

I carry a bounty like a badge of honour. There is over a billion on my head and I post with my main. Think about it. Someone, somewhere, was butthurt enough by your actions to sink ISK into effectively rewarding PVP against you. Subsequently (and this is the metric I find interesting) bounties are kept high by playing smart, losing little, and causing even more butthurt.

In highsec a bounty isn't even a prompt to attack you, because of the aforementioned payout system and the fact it changes nothing to agression mechanics. So anyone attacking you is still subject to CONCORD. If you get ganked, it's way more likely because of your cargo. In lowsec it's more or less something that happens to you by surprise. I never consider someone's bounty when deciding to agress. Player bounty payouts are usually a nice surprise, thank you for playing kind of deal.

If anything, even if you go 100% carebear, it should motivate you to throw a couple of cheap ships into PVP to clear the bounty and by extension learn how to protect yourself. Aside from the fact PVP is way more fun then grinding rocks all day or updating market orders.

I agree on the sign / threshold, that would be cool. I don't think bounties are useless because they still reward PVP against you (or nowadays, your entire corp and/or alliance). They also notify the player setting the bounty, which can be used as a prompt to check a KB in half an hour to verify a contract killing. The main issue here is creative application. Blink

But that's the problem. Anyone who could shoot you would, regardless of the bounty.

Having a bounty has no real meaning.

However, it would be cool if you could pay 2x your bounty to get rid of it.
