Hey, new to EVE, and here is my question.
I always wondered, if you play as a Gallente pilot and want to have a Caldari friend/buddy, is it even possible?
What I mean, lets say I have an industrial corporation and want to have a corporate friend from Caldari (which I found under bizarre circumstances/or my friend(IRL) is playing as one), can I make it happen without any serious effects to my and his/her reputation, relationship e.tc.?

Race in Eve is mainly cosmetic. It gives you a few hours worth of skills in racial frigates and weapons for the frigates when you start.

Its your choices that matter, if you go around shooting Caldari npc's then you might become kill on sight in Caldari space(by Caldari faction police) or if you join Faction Warfare.

Yes you can. Your race has no effect on who you interact with (and absolutely minimal effect on anything at all).

Thank you for bringing this up Nami, this reminded me of early days :)

I remember the first time going up to Minmatar space, I was very worried how the locals would percieve an Amarrian oppressor. Turned out they were not bothered at all ... which is a shame, I miss the RP part a bit.

You *do* need to train the diplomatic relations skill, as a corp owner, in order to have a large number of members of another race.
That's really the only thing you need to worry about though.

That, and if your standings become to severely negative (-5) towards an opposite faction, they'll attack you in their space. Obviously it will be difficult for these players to be in a corp in opposing space.

That was removed a long time ago. The skill now reduces the cost to hire an ally in a war.
