BTW, is it only a concept art just as all those previous times they showed some bling bling UI or it is actually implemented and WiP and going live with Rubicon?

Because if the former I can't be bothered to start being excited and have to face reality in next 5 minutes when they won't do sh!t in any of new directions.

If it is the latter, well... WTF is with those sikret features announcements? Only people in Vegas will get new UI or basically that thing is done and wider audience feedback doesn't count because it is already too late to change anything? Why this thing is not on the list of official features?

Edit: I got my answer from stream recording so I guess no reason to get excited about anything changing in terms of UI in near future.

Was anything else released for Rubicon at Eve Vegas? The expansion is released in 4 weeks and we've heard nothing else since the initial Rubicon stream. I'm not feeling confident there's going to be any more content :(

This a thousand times. What we have now is a distillation of functionality; I am not even convinced that the hud or ui need changing let alone transformation into harder-to-read and less efficient "Ooo shiny" visuals.

This. The current UI is perfectly fine, stop changing things for the sake of changing them. If you have to change it at least give me an option to keep the old UI.

No it's not, it looks really really dated. Functionality wise, I'm not sure how things could be made worse except by putting options into a forth menue layer (fleet/self->warp->to->distance). EVE's UI is pretty much at rock bottom right now. That they spend at least the resources to do new concept art shows that they are concerned with the subject matter. It only makes sense that they think about the functionality parallel to the looks.

Also I'm pretty sure they will include the option to keep the old UI.

So no-one knows then? Eve Vegas - no new information about Rubicon?

it'll go on longer than that and you know it.

What's with announcing things, even UI concepts, outside of the main streaming that they usually do. I don't gamble so don't have an interest in watching others gamble so I miss out on some concept UI and other stuff being presented?

It's a bit "cloak and dagger\cov-ops" CCP. Present it to the WHOLE of the player base in an Officially Themed Stream and not a side stream called EVE Vegas.

Rant over and feelings expressed.

Scored out as it seems it was on the billing but was not very clear. I thought it was just going be like watching Late Night Poker Tournaments...i.e. not very interesting.

On the UI Concept: I would like it more if that back panel was 100% transparent or with a TOGGLE OPTION in ESC Menu to make it as transparent as the windows can be now.

I'm intrigued by the yellow CPU indicator left of the main damage dial (opposite the blue speed indicator)... The screenshot has it set to 100%, but seems to imply it could be set to less... What might the effects (and benefits) of less than 100% CPU be?

i like it very much

but im a bit concerned about some things.

- its very uni color and i think its a bit harder to read the hud than the hud we have now.

- i dont like tha bachround pannle behind the buttons and hud cause it limits waht i can see in space further

- while aesthetically i like the new graphics of the target ships it is now harder to identify the ship and the faction vause the portraits are easyer to read cause they show colo sceme and thus faction and t1 navy etc... without further symbols

I guess I don't really know what people are getting so excited about here? It's pretty, but it's essentially the same UI we have now... spreadsheet cells, HUD, taskbar type icons...

New "ghost sites" where you will be able to find materials for the first (of possibly a series, possibly more in the future, this was left open) player built "pirate (SoE)" implant set.

This goes hand in hand with the release of the SoE ships. There is some "lore" stuff they want to do which is why you haven't heard more yet about this yet.

On topic

I love that art they have but as others have stated it will need some tweaking. They did mention that if they make a drastic change that they will be touching up on the useability/function of the UI, it's won't just be new art for the sake of new art.

That's pretty cool. I like the idea of less windows and more of a HUD feeling.

For people quiting me because they think I am against change, read again. The only thing I want is an improvement to the current UI's functionality, because what we have now is absolutely terrible; so if CCP is going to dedicate resources to designing a new UI with no funcionality improvement, then I cannot give my support.

Make it idiot-proof and someone will make a better idiot.

I suppose that people saying that there isn't anything new there aren't looking too closely.

A couple things:
* Range and Transversal on the targeted ship icon frames - nice step towards moving away from the spreadsheet overview.
* Heat levels per rack next to the central dial
* Subdivision on the primary target shield dial - perhaps showing the most recent damage or rep?

The CPU bar opposite the Speed one is odd, I agree. Maybe that was meant to be capacitor? Otherwise capacitor doesn't seem to appear there.

And as people have already noted - nice clean chat areas.

Trying out all the things to do here in Eve - it's quite a checklist. So I made a blog Jakob's Eve Checklist
