Proposal to 'fix' OGB [Remove KM when using OGB]

A Band Apart.

I understand that this has been discussed gazillion times in the forum. CCP Fozzie also indicated that they are looking at this - but there is technical difficulties in bringing OGB to on-grid.

I am not sure if this has been considered in the past. I be one way to reduce the prevalence of OGB is to remove killmail when the attacker is being boosted. In Eve, KM is amongst the most important things players care about (beside ISK). Disabling KM when under the influence of OGB will significantly reduce its usage.

Neat idea but I cannot imagine it will ever be implemented. The tears generated from this will burst the hoover dam..

The issue is almost certainly detecting on- VS offgrid boosting in the first place, since if they can trigger one effect (like no KM) based on offgrid, then they could trigger an another one too (like no bonuses).

offgrid boosting of any kind needs to be stopped, it doesn't make any sense that a ship halfway across the solar system could in any way influence another ship

Lol. Stupidest idea I've seen in a while... sure, so when a Titan dies there will now be no killmail ever, because obviously any fleet involved in such a fight would use some kind of links Roll

See my post in response to that here https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=3456111#post3456111 makes perfect sense.

This whole nerf OGB is getting almost as silly as the afk cloaky whining. Eve has never been about fair.

+1 from my part, but I know that´s that´s a mechanic that will never be implemented, that would just endure a amount of rage so big it would need two reinforced jitas P

anyway CCP is already begining to adress the problem, and if they reach they goal, we will start to see OGB only as GB (on sight and killable \o/) as it should be! Lol

When can we expect to see news on OGB nerf in patchnotes? The latest changes didnt seem work. If nothing else they should atleast appear on KM.

I dont see why there can't be OnGB, Nighthawk and Damnation can easily be fitted for 1 type of boost (Siege or Information for the Nighthawk and Armor or Information for the Damnation) and still do around 800 DPS.

I'm not sure that I understand your exact issue/problem, is it the Incursion OGB you're talking about or just in general ? The above is in regards to Incursion OGB's.

Maybe it's time to eliminate the boosting at it's whole concept, delete it. Give all modules less heat damage that you can overheat them much longer. Give CS a new role maybe a role with bastion light an jumping over the field with MJD...

I'm pretty sure you aren't talking about the recent (massive) linknerf, cause that happened, and one can feel it (interdiction maneuvers II down from +50% to +35% :>)

Since that post is a little older, I strongly assume that the OP was posting from the POV of a FW frigate - and especially in the realm of 20secs of overheating guns and melting armor repairers, that OGB is a definite advantage, and the POS-boosting technique displayed by many corporations out there pose a lot of difficulties for roamers.

Issue with those CS is: they are slow, they are big, and they got *shoot me, I'm dropping shiny tankmods* written all over them. Especially when you're only up to link a single dramiel or condor, you just use an offgridbooster. Unlike a CS, that one travels without any problems. Try squeezing a damnation through a gatecamp :V

THen take out rorq bonuses or any kind of OGB, not just pvp.

This is a terrible idea all around; the best idea has already been implemented: having a reduction of OGB versus On grid boosting.

Just because YOU dont want to spend time to train for a Command ship doesnt mean others that did should be penalized. Keep the tears running.

actually, I pvp a lot as T2 logistics. Not showing on the kilmail doesnt keep me from doing logi and saving over 100's of billions in ships. OGB has been changed and is NOW fine; it comes with a penalty of 10% and totalling 50% reductions, using t2 links when off grid versus on grid; it's fixed and balanced now. The warfare specialists skills, with the current balance, give 100% bonuses PER level trained when on grid and only 90% per level when off grid.

Yeah likewise I've flown the guardian a fair bit and not always appeared on BRs and doesn't really bother me - would be quite happy to fly logi and never appear on a killmail though wouldn't be sad to see logis appears on BRs either.

Dunno but I first saw a dev mention about OGB nerf way back when they were bringing out the Rorqual which was what, 5 years ago or more ?
