So, to keep life simple, figured be rather general and no discuss specific fits.

I fly a sniper Rokh for missioning. I range between 130km and 50km. I use a micro jump drive to get around.

I love this. I do. But missioning gets boring. I was wondering what other rail or blaster set ups for gallante or caldari ships there that are not snipers.

I am wondering if it's a good idea to run L4s with a blaster Rokh or maybe buy another shop for drone boating or brawling, or even going tengu.

What my Rokh does, it does well. Very well. No mission is a challenge at all. I just want other options to switch it up a little. Different gameplay types and all. Basically looking for something more actively involved and exciting.

So, post some ideas on how to change things up... Cheaply. I noticed these forums tend to suggest multi billion dollar fits way too often. Also, this is purely L4 missions. Not pvp or exploration or whatever you can imagine. I just want one more sip that is as capable as my Rokh but a little more fun and involved. Sniper Rokh is just so damn easy for the way I play.

Feel free to discuss in game with me too. I always love good feedback. Thanks.

P.s sorry for misspellings or random words in the initial post. I am on my phone and it isn't easy to ensure everything is posted right!

Also not looking for specific fits. I am just looking for ships to be looking into. I can fit well enough. Just with all the ships available and all, hard to find something that would be worth it.

Personally I feel that the Vindicator is a far better mission boat than the Rokh. Cap boosted and rail fit it requires a fair bit more micromanagement than a tanky BS like the Rokh but its pretty effective. However it is not cheap.

For cheap hybrid battleships you basically 3 options, Rokh, Megathron and Hyperion. Megathron is more turret focused and deals more damage than a Rokh, but has a far weaker tank and less range. Hyperion has a solid tank but you also need good drone skills to make the most of it. Both can be fit fully T2 quite easily. I would personally go for a Hyperion.

My problem is I need to give near no attention to a Rokh.

I warp in, MJD out and then set up targets and snipe before they are even within 70km of grazing me.

And again, I am sure everyone could come up with 1000000000 trillion isk fits for everything, but realistically, for us nor noes, anything above 600 mil is not real. Unless any of you want to send me a few billion isk....

Missions are not hard at all. I can do them all. Easy. Problem is I want a ship that does then faster and is a bit more engaged and exciting. That's all. Maybe even not faster just more engaged. I just want to mix it up.

This. I can do t2 and am willing to spend isk for it. When people say spend 2000000000000000000000 isk for a 1% increase I am like wtf.

I got great drone skills. I dunno about the range thou. A blaster hyp practically needs to land and go choke to other guy to death.

Try either of these - the Hyperion is an absolute beast, and the Myrmidon will be a bit more challenging, but it's certainly more than capable of getting the job done.Cool

Put it into EFT, and I think you're going to be surprised at how well it compared to the Dominix of just a few years ago. Solid tank (over 500 DPS), solid DPS (again, over 500), and good mobility.

Drones to taste, I was just playing around with varying ammo/drone combinations.

Utilizes Sentries for DPS, Lights to keep tackle off, tanks (at Gal BS V) almost 1000 DPSShocked, has plenty of CPU & Powergrid left over, does a bit over 700 DPS with my skills, and will almost volley rat cruisers. Without the AB running, it's cap stable, with it running, you can run everything for about 9 minutes.

The above was for Serpentis - YMMV against other racial rats.

I never suggested that you fly a loot pinata. In fact there is no need for anything more than a T2 fit on a pirate hull really. Sure the hull is expensive but the mods don't need to be. Besides if you decide that you don't like it or want to go live in null for a while you can always sell the hull and get almost all of that ISK back.

That said there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Megathron or Hyperion.

If you just want fun/interesting but not necessarily the most efficient then look into a blaster Proteus.

With the recent rebalance Hyperion became a really nice and interesting battleship, give it a try, might be what you're looking for.

If you want to keep things engaging and exciting and do missions faster as well, you got to stop using MJD, an AB/MWD is enough for general gate crawling and it will allow you to deal more damage as you dont need to use longer range ammo, but you also need to start worrying about your tank and cap since the NPCs will be in range and you'll be taking damage. If you want to use the Hyperion here's what I'd suggest:

[Hyperion, L4s]

Large Armor Repairer II
Shadow Serpentis Armor Kinetic Hardener
Shadow Serpentis Armor Thermic Hardener
Drone Damage Amplifier II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L

425mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge L
Auto Targeting System I

Large Hybrid Locus Coordinator II
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Large Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Hobgoblin II x5
Hobgoblin II x5
Garde II x5

The faction hardeners are there for CPU reasons and are very cheap, you can also use an implant if you choose. Does 685dps to 53+50km with guns, and 370dps to 38km with Gardes, so you'll be doing 1050dps total at around 40km and if you switch to bouncers you can do 1000dps to 60km. This has 500dps tank against Serpentis (which is what this is optimized for) which is plenty, against Angels you'll want to drop the Drone Damage Amp for another hardener. You can also switch the AB for an MWD for easier missions with long gatecrawls or switch the AB for another Omnidirectional on missions where you don't really need to move (bring Garde optimal up to 46km)

This is a far cry from a MJD Rokh though, you'll need to manage your tank, capacitor, cap boosting, drones, scripts in your tracking computers and guns all at once and if you mess up too much it can get ugly, but generally it's got quite a hardy tank and you can still survive if you know what you're doing.

Changing ship doesn't change that, missioning is and will always be more boring than mining.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Yes, missioning gets boring when you do every mission the same exact way. Which is why I was looking for new ships to go into tat could utilize skills I already have where I wouldn't need to retrain from scratch.

Normally I do small pvp roams with The Scope (NPC PVP fleet roams for the win!) but do missions for isk and sec status. Just looking to change things up even if it is not an upgrade.

From the sounds of it, going Hyperion with improved range will get me a bit closer and a bit more damage than my Rokh. Think it would be a good midway before I do any up close and personal stuff mission wise.

Thanks guys.

if you are going to snipe, might as well do it in hyperion. you probably en up have 200 more dps just cuz of the 5x sentry drones. Also, the gun dps should be about the same you just use a weaker ammo like lead instead of antimatter
