HI all Hi CCP

I plan to buy new PC, based on AMD new card R-x familly, while im big fan of EvE what type of grafic card you prefer for your customers for next years...

I know you work on tessellation and dx11 features etc, that is Nv card features, how about Radeon? they support tessellation to ot not? while i dont care in general about dx11 and tessellation ( sound cool but not primary thing for me), would be nice to know about pros and cons while somone will use AMD cards in future - regarding to EvE online grafic engine.

Any commnet welcome.

AnandTech has the best analysis of this which I've seen, although it's dated. Here is a head-to-head comparison.

For the most part, nVidia/Intel pretty much owns tessellation triangle processing, but AMD can at least handle it - as long as game tessellation isn't overdone. Things might have changed with newer cards from AMD.

There's real reasons why your Eve character doesn't do /dance.

Your answer make me a bit sad, well im old NV user never got problem with drivers ect on NV card (big pros) , howerver i see big capability on AMD card but no idea how they work in future with EvE i mean - how EvE engine support them....

Funny, considering ATI had tesselation before nvidia...

Anyhow... always had issues with Radeon drivers and that never changed.

I am happy with my nvidia card.

Scroll down to the chart.

BUT, and this is a big BUT, if you really aren't that sure on gpu architecture then you REALLY do not need to worry about it.

This isn't some huge big cutting edge move.

It also shows different settings and performance benchmarks based on games.

3dmark11 apparently, had terrible ratings from nvidia.

Again I might add, if this seems to be beyond the scope of what you're wanting to accomplish, just find a decent 1gb graphics card and call it a day without worrying about getting all computer engineer nerdspew on us =)

I'm the opposite, never had a problem with my Radeon HD4850 and my GTX 660ti turned everythign in eve blue one day and i had to drop the shader settings.

and it still sucks at dust clouds but that's all cards AFAIK.

Well, CCP have partnered with Nvidia. With their tesseletion demo, and the graphics card give away at Fanfest, so it might make sense to go with them.

TThe thing about everything turning blue in Eve was a driver bug. I didn't get it, as I hadn't upgraded my drivers to the version with it. Not inherent to the card.

Woo! CSM XI!

Catalyst driver utility should find the fixes and updated drivers for you as well (very easy to use) and nvidia has one as well.

I have the 550ti and it works flawlessly. All settings on, everything set to high. Before that my old mobo supported AGP and I had a bad ATI card but I blamed my ancient (Socket 478/celeron) mobo/cpu combo. Then the card burned out and I replaced it with a PCI (not express, standard PCI) video card and came to realize it had been the AGP card that was the problem from the time I had bought it.

What about my Radio Shack CGA card?

Everyone is always repeating the mantra "Don't Trust Anyone" ad nauseum... If I can't trust the guys I play with, why bother playing with them at all? Fly Solo...

I'm pretty sure Eve will run with onboard video as well.
