Haulers lack of middle ground

Why is it that the Hauler class has a huge gap between cargo spaces? The largest non-capital Hauler as of now is the Badger mk.II with a cargo space of 45K m3 give or take. If that amount of space isn't enough for you your only other option would be investing time and a load of isk on a capital freighter with 1mil m3 of cargo space. The difference is unfair seeing as there is no middle ground.

CCP, please consider adding sub-capital sized Haulers for the middle class.

Now watch the Pavlov dogs come in and say "Use Orca, hurdurrrrp" or "Use Carrier! They can totally go dock in hisec hubs"

But +1 from me. Something in the middle should exist for dedicated hauling, like indys and freighters. Something that can carry at least 1 or 2 packaged BSs and then some.

It's been suggested many times.

So far my favorite one is where the deep space transports would get multiple holds, I think it was around 4 or 5 of them. Each one of the holds would have about 30,000 m3 in them.

Lowering the average to make you look better since 2012.

I don't think that word means what you think it means. Everybody has access to the same set of transports, therefore it is fair. Whether or not different sizes of haulers are needed is up to discussion; but nothing about this is unfair.

(Meanwhile use the Orca. It takes 18 days to train on a blank character with no implants. This is much much faster than any hope of CCP taking your suggestion into consideration.)

Hell, the things have nearly double the tank of a freighter, if you build it right.

Orcas cost a lot, a middle ground that held had more cargo than an orca that cost 200-400 million would be nice.

Pretty much why "use orca" is such a pitiful chime that should only fall on deaf ears.

It's easily 500mill+ for a ship who's bonuses won't be used for hauling purposes and has only a 30K or so cargo hold with a 40k hanger along with a 50K ORE hold that can't be utilized for hauling anything else but ores, so that's 50km3 just plain wasted.

Something that has a pure cargo hold of 100k+ and costs in the 100million+ isk point is a true middle ground that is asked for.

So...you want an orca, with cargo expanders, and you want it for a fraction of the price?

Why should you get that?

An orca can get over 100k m3 capacity excluding the hangar.
I dont understand what else you need?

Wut you want a 2m isk t1 hauler that can haul 100k m3?

As much as I dislike using an industrial command ship for my large hauling jobs, I have to admit that I do like the hangar bay. I'm still trying to find a use for the ore bay though. Maybe I'll fill it with Kernite just for self-amusement.

I can understand the wish, however, for a cheaper ship that lacks the extra features the Orca has. Something that doesn't cost almost 1B and is just straight to-the-point cargo-only hauling with no hangar or ore bay and probably with less tank but a little more agility and speed.

My orca has 97K m3 of general purpose cargo with the mids and lows all dedicated to giving it 240k EHP. Yes, it costs a lot of ISK, but it has nearly double the tank of a freighter.

So yeah. Save a horse, ride an orca.

I don't know why are people so obsessed by Orca.
Sure... It can carry 100k m3 of regular cargo...
Sure... It can have 250+k EHP...
Sure... It has additional bays / holds...
Sure... It only costs only about 550M unfitted...
Sure... It can be trained for in 18 days...

But I do not want all that... I want to have a choice to fly dedicated hauler that will take 100k m3 and nothing else.
It would have 50k EHP and would cost about 150M. That's it.

I don't see why more ships can ever be wrong. At least the art team would do something more usefull then "redesigning" Command Ships (sorry I just had to say that :P)

The fact that people use Orca as Hauler which is way off it's meant role clearly shows that there is the need for exactly that type of ships.
And saying "go fly Orca" it's like VOLVO would stop producing trucks because MAN is already doing them...
