Building Fortresses in Space, draft idea.

I think it could be great for the aspiring player / Arm-chair empire builder to be able to build Fortresses that could have the following features:

*You can link your fortresses together so that people you set friendly can bridge between the ones you have built and linked in space, you can set a price for people to do this, so the builder can make a profit and players can have better quality of life through access to market hubs.

* These structures can be attacked, follow the normal wardec rules, bounty rules, reinforce rules and ally rules so that mercs can defend the structure but it can not be repped.

The difference between this and the p.o.s that already exists:

Its automated it does not require resources, but it also is not able to have any storage capability at all or hangers etc., it will attack anything that is not set as friendly. this is a more pvp focused p.o.s


With this i can see relationships building between people who would like to claim an area of space and the people who live in an area of space such as low and Null, working together or against each other.

Well, I suppose a POS but worse if you can't put hangers on it.

If they did this, I imagine they would cut most of the work and just allow a POS to be put up anywhere instead.

So, your suggesting a POS, except it can't do POS things like store stuff, and it doesn't require any upkeep or attention to function, and it cheapens existing jump-bridge mechanics? I really don't think this is a good idea.

The general idea is be able to build with less hassle, make some isk, and those who pvp also get great benefits from it, if you picture the idea from a PVP context it might be a good idea. it has disadvantages so it does not compete with existing structures.
