Should the Marauder class get a second ship?

Now I am not here to cry about the upcoming marauder changes. I applaud CCP for trying to come up with a way to give Marauders a role not filled by other ships. That being said however I am someone unhappy that the ship is being turned into something that may only function best in its new role. Given the training time for marauders, it seems that there should be maybe one other ship in the class to make the training time worthwhile. Maybe one similar to the old style marauder.

Many other T2 skills unlock more than one ship.

Heavy assault ships give you 2 choices.
Command ships gives you 2 choices
Recon gives you 2 choices
Covert ops gives you 2 choices
etc.

Could be cool. I'd like to see a tech II Hyperion. I'm just not sure what kind of role it would have.

It would have to be able to do something the regular marauder couldn't do.

Maybe a bonus to exploration to find DED sites?

Agreed. Would be cool. T2 typhoon that isnt Black ops Please.... Although **** a T2 Domi. Hype all the way.

Cant think of any cool ideas for them though:(

They would still need to be teircided and people would still lament over it.

No they wouldn't The tiercide has already been done and marauders have been given their role. They would just have to make a second one with a different role.

Personally I don't see any issue for now with just leaving it with a second hull with the original configuration. It just seems for the training time it would be nice to have a choice for something other than a MJD bastion mode ship.

I'd really like that to happen. So the Devs wouldn't have to try and make the kronos varugr golem and paladin be a pve AND pvp ship and could just make one good at one and terrible at the other.

I go with the T2 Hype as an example since I love the hull (even though the hardpoints are horrible)

Rhoden Shipyards -> Missiles! Because Rhoden Shipyards!

6 Highs. 4 Launcher Hardpoints -> 1 Utility High with Bastion Module
5 Mids as the T1 Version
7 Lows

Role Bonus:
100% Damage Increase to Cruise Missiles/Torps

Marauders Skill Bonus:
7.5% bonus to Armor Repair amount and
5% bonus to Cruise Missile and Torpedo explosion radius per level

Gallente Battleship Skill Bonus:
5% Bonus to cruise missile and torpedo damage.
10% bonus to the velocity factor of stasis webifiers per level


With either T2 Resists and meh'ish Base Shield/Armor/Structure
or the meh'ish resists Marauders have right now but a small boost to base HP.


Dronebandwidth maybe 40-75m3 since it's still a Gallente Boat (even though the missiles sure make it look like it isn't)

Also T2 Torpedo Abaddon would be neat!

My Condor costs less than that module!

Problem with the old ship is that its a combat ship that is useless at combatUgh

Honestly? I'd go for that.

The Attack Battleship based Marauders are fast active tankers, and the Combat Battleship based ones are essentially the new iteration of Marauders. Because by no means are the new iteration of Marauders bad ships, at all- I just don't like how the changes weren't really... Fluid. They were one thing, and now they're something completely different and you can't fly them at all like you did before.

Wouldn't even need to cut the new models or animations, because maybe you could give the Attack Marauders some sort of other module, 'Blitzkrieg' or something, that gives greatly increased agility, way more benefit from 100MN prop mods (as well as huge bonuses to MWD cap use to make them useful without just being pulsed) and some additional capacitor economy things as well as perhaps some resists. Hull bonuses would probably be roughly in line with what they are now in terms of offense and defense- and then they could still do the 'stuff flips open' to show that this mod is active. Perhaps it's like venting heat buildup from the MWD allowing it to run in a less regulated fashion, and somehow better? Who knows.

I will +1 the crap out of any idea that mentions a useful Hyperion hull.

It's an active tanker, supposed to be a blaster ship... why not marauder?

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

This is really the best solution to the way that they can't seem to pick what kind of role to give the marauders. Have one with web bonuses and other similar skills, designed to pin stuff down, and one with the MJD and bastion bonuses, designed to be a static sniper.

I can appreciate that Marauders have a certain niche role in PvE but why would you need to increase the choice in an almost completely pointless (even with the current changes) class of T2 BS hull?

Why is there choice in every other level and class of ship?
Heck even if the second choice of Marauder is the alternate Racial weapon type it would be awesome.

I'm all for more hulls, just that as it stands the proposed bunker mode Bastion Marauder is an abomination in desperate need of being killed with fire.

The Vargur requires launcher hardpoints, following tempest tradition.

I have to agree with this thought. Even Black Ops are about to be split into two lines of ships. And Marauder training is one of the highest subcap multipliers out there.

Rokh / Hyperion / Maelstrom / Abaddon marauders? Hell yeah, sounds like a plan.

Keep the bonuses for the respective hull more or less, at least the weapon choices.

Bastion or Blitz, hm, doesn't matter much - choice is good.

Current marauders are tank/range specced with the bastion.
Any change would either be an offensive (damage/tracking) bastion module or a ship that has bonusses to this.
