[Idea] Bounties: Spicing them up a bit

Greetings,

I've been thinking that the whole idea about bounties is great and stuff, but in the end it doesn't add that much, does it? I was wondering that being that bounties can be collected by players, why couldn't we add some NPC bounty-hunters to add some more spice into the mixture?

I was thinking that the bounty-hunter experience might involve in a random wing of NPCs suddenly appearing in your missions, your incursions, your mining belt, etc... However, this wing should be limited to some areas so as to keep the lag at bay. Noone wants a lag-spike provided by NPC bounty-hunters warping into a 100-400 capsuleer fleet. That is why I think they'd only spawn in HS and LS (not too sure if they should spawn in Wormholes to be honest...)

The wing (or single ship) spawning should rely entirely on the bounty and thus it should escalate accordingly without reaching absurd levels of gankery cause this idea is just to add some spice. I think the wing of bounty-hunters should only appear after a certain time has passed by an individual (I suppose corporation and alliance bounties could bleed into capsuleers running those activities that could trigger this sneaky attack) running a certain task (like running a mission, mining, hovering aimlessly in space, camping a lowsec gate, etc..).

If those bounty-hunters should have a concord bounty on their heads or if they should spawn wrecks and/or spawn drops upon destruction is all up to balancing brainstorming.

This is just a random idea, not an attempt to nerf HS or whatever.

Fly safe!!! Big smile

I'd prefer the tools and incentives to establish bounty hunting as an actual player profession. They are pretty much a joke right now but I wish they weren't.

And I wish I had one!

What about a bounty hunter LP store? If you kill someone with a bounty you get isk but also LP. People who actually go bounty hunting could then have some unique rewards.

Forced ratting doesn't make anything more interesting.

And bounty hunter LP stores do nothing but encourage us to far our alts.

I suggested something that might happen sporadically, not something that would happen every 5 minutes. When you're mining, you're already killing NPCs that spawn from time to time and the same happens when you're running missions or plexing. So I don't see any "forced" aspect in there, cause whoever's performing such task is already involved in killing NPCs. At least they might add some variety to missions (which I can't run anymore cause they're absurdly repetitive and boring)

LP stores...I wouldn't think they'd be a good idea cause bounties are placed by PCs and not NPCs, so a LP store wouldn't give much sense. Adding more tools to make the bounty-hunter profession real would be awesome.

PvE content needs to be reworked cause PvE so far means = ISK grind. You can call it ratting, running missions, running incursions, whatever.. It's repetitive. But alas, people don't complain about forced ratting when they spot an officer ship or faction ships which would drop shinny modules, huh? Funny

While a part of me is very amused by the idea (the rage... oh, the rage it would cause!)... I have to say "no" largely for the same reason I'm amused by it and because I believe the bounty system should stay in players hands.

How about all those NPC pirate corps whose rats are being brutalized by those savage "carebears" placed bounties on these evil mission runners?
