No, the way it works is you give me (or whoever takes this) your collateral (BPO, blinged ship, whatever), worth the amount of money you want to get plus 10-15% (e.g. "I would like a loan for 1bn @ 15% interest; I have this BPO, it's NPC value is 1.1 billion").

In 30 days (or whatever the terms for the loan are), you send the person their 1.15 billion ISK, they send you back your BPO.

If you bail, they keep your BPO and get their ISK back.

yup, pretty much. There's no other "good" way to mitigate the borrower from running off with the money.

For larger things, generally a trusted third party (e.g. chribba) holds the collateral in escrow.

Now, there are other people who can get loans without collateral (e.g. VV, Grendel, RAW, etc) but that's because they've done the work to get the reputation for being trustworthy with stupidly large sums of money and are not as likely to run off with it (still might, but then their reputation is probably worth more than the ISK they could steal).

Well it's more like a bank.
If you want to borrow like 20m, most people will do that with no collateral, like a small loan from a bank.
If you want larger sums, you either need to secure it, or blindingly pass a credit check and pay a higher interest rate. So for example to borrow £50000 from a bank, you'd likely have to secure it on your house, so if you default, they sell your house and take their money from that.
The difference here is a pawn shop you sell your stuff to it, and would generally need to buy it back at a pretty high rate. With these loans, you agree the interest rate, which can drastically reduce with full collateral, and once you pay the loan off, you get your stuff back with no hassle.

You really confuse me though. Most people want a loan to put as capital on an isk making venture, so buying a ratting ship, or setting up a T2 production line. You want to buy a plex, so once you receive the isk, it's gone, it's not making you isk. Then you think that you are going to make 50% on a billion in 20 days, which says to me you can make 1.5b in 20 days (not actually too hard to do).

So explain to me this:
1. If you are able to make this isk, why do you need a loan? You should be able to make a plex in 6 days or less.
2. Why does a 5 day old character suddenly need to plex? If this is your main, then you account should either have 10 days of trial or 25 days of account time remaining. If it's not your main, why are you hiding your main, and requesting a loan on an alt? And does your main not have 600m in collateral?
3. What do you actually plan to do to make the isk. Are you mining in high sec, null sec, etc? You list your mining barges as collateral, so are we to assume you already have a 3rd barge ready to go?

Honestly, this comes across as a really lazy attempt to scam.
